Just bought a 2002 996. When I fill the screenwask it's empty within minutes. I can see the water dripping out under the car. Presume the tank is cracked, maybe in the cold weather. Anyone give me some advise on how easy the tank is to remove and replace?
Happy to attempt myself if its not that big a job.

Cheers

Can't help with instructions on the removal of the tank, but I'd suggest it more likely that one of the pipes has come adrift as a result of its contents freezing during the recent cold spell. Good luck, I hope you get it sorted at minimal cost.

The pipe goes through the inner wing under the filler neck and it pops off there quite readily if the jets/pipes freeze (jets are heated so shouldn't freeze but hey-ho!) jack car up (nsf) and pull back the arch liner to the right of the suspension strut - the washer pipe simply pushes onto the plastic fitting to go through the inner wing.

Other favourites are the valve behind the battery (splits apart and can be pushed back together 9 times out of ten) and the filler neck has a grommet around it that if dislodged causes a leak as the neck entry is lower than the max height of the bottle......

Headlamp washer pipes - if fitted are prone to leaking too but front PU off to get at them........

To remove the bottle (if all else fails or the grommet has been pushed into the bottle):

Remove nsf wheel
Remove nsf arch liner
Remove battery cover and ns scuttle cover
Remove filler neck (press tab towards battery and slide neck the same way)
Remove bottle retaining screws (one or two screws depending on spec - headlamp wash gets bigger bottle)
Pull bottle towards headlamp off of its mounts (two small grommets - refit before reassembly and put some grease on them to make bottle fitment easier)
Disconnect wiring harness and pipes.........

As Pope says, check that valve behind the battery. Mine came apart on the C4S and water was peeing out. Quick fix.

Much appreciated. Cracking spot. Was as simple as the pipe behind the battery.
