I had them done when I bought the car 7/8 years ago. The silver painted centres are now stone chipped and I've managed to 'lightly kerb' a couple of them. So am going to get Adrian Rowlands to re-furb them.

Question is should I get outer part anodised again as I did last time, or clear lacquered (which is how they were OE) or clear powdercoated. If lacquered or powdercoated the 'Speedline for Porsche' can be etched into the aluminium outer parts which again is how they were OE.

Anodising is much more durable, but as I hardly use the car now perhaps thats not so important.

Just wanted to get this right and thought maybe a 964RS/Turbo/993RS owner may have a view on this?

Thanks!

I used Adrian, his work is superb.
Go laquered/clear powder coated as per OE.
The anodised finish is not as bright.
I had mine etched correctly too (under the powder coat).

Paul, yours do look stunning. Do you know if yours were lacquered or clear powder coated, as I think he gave me option of both...although I could be getting confused!?

Ferry man, they are stunning!

I didn't know you could get the "Speedline for Porsche" re-etched back in? Top class that.

Off topic - I don't know what 911 it is that wheel is leaning against, but I want it! smile

A rather fetching ST rep built by Nick moss I suspect. Veeeeery nice indeed.
I did have a few sets of the decals made up to allow the etching of the "Speedline for Porsche" when i had my RS wheels refurbed seven years ago. Can't find them now mad

How much longer would it have taken to line the bolt heads up neatly? A lovely job in other respects, of course.

Clear powder coated.
Adrian did the lot, repainted centres, etchings, etc. They came back like new. No leaks, nicely balanced, no issues. They're a bugger to keep sparkling though. smile
And no, they are no longer that clean on the inside... wink

Rarely, but in this case yes.

An extra 5 minutes per wheel would have had them right.

Am I wrong?

Must admit, I'm a fanny like that.

Whenever I fit sockets or anything in the house, I have to level the screws in the fascia plates.
I'm the same with cars.

The wheels looks superb either way mind.

Hi All,

I believe Adrian does not use decals but actually re-etches the rim as per factory cool

His work is first class.

Cheers

I think you'll find you need a "reverse" decal to mask the rim whilst carrying out the etching. I had about five sets of the them cut.

Yes, I would second Adrian.

And I would ask him for his opinion.

I have seen the stainless rims and to my eye they don't look right.

Incidentally, I was told that Hans Hermann had the German agency for Speedline and that how these wheels came to be specified on the 993RS --

He also drove my prototype car in the development period ....

P.S. 'Love the blue pre-impact smile

P.P.S. And the SO2's are really nurdy smilesmile

Personally I would leave them polished and not lacquered or clear coated (the same thing). With the lacquer coating even in powder you still get the corrosion problem around the bolts on the rim and you cannot do anything about it other than having them refurbed again.
