I know every Porsche petrol head has their favourite 911.
964 Turbo S.E.
993 RS
959
GT2 993
996 GT3 RS (for purity and old skool hand made Porsche flavour)
But to me this is the one. The 3.0 RS (and RSR). This is the most brutal hard core no messing around built for the man who had the cash and knew the score. Twice the price of a 2.7RS and they were only for the chosen few.
This is the one I would acquire if I was a man of financial substance. A true widow maker and utterly what Porsche was all about.
As opposed to four door water cooled four wheel drives.

This really is the uber zenith.. I love the twin exhausts and under bonnet fuel filler.
Utterly fantastic. I think I've soiled myself.

I agree its an epic 911, but why would you consider a 3.0RS a "widow maker"?
Hmm? driving one in the wet in '74 on British roads on the utter edge would sort a man from a boy. What could catch it? Get it wrong at 130 on a tightening bend and you'll be in a right polar moment pickle.
It's power was one thing but it was light and didn't take prisoners.
Saying that a 3 litre turbo is equally toxic in extremis.
I love these machines. They are so un PC and raw. They represent a time when fine judgment and driving ability was paramount. They're pure and brimming with character.
it's what made Porsche so great and iconic. The world's got richer and the 4.0 GT3's sold out in short order. These seem more special and brutal.
I can imagine one red lining in top on an autobahn in the day. What exhilaration covering Europe at huge speeds with that air cooled thrashing behind you. Hewn from granite teutonic brilliance.
That's why I think it's the daddy!

My thoughts precisely, they had all of 230hp in standard form. Now a 2.8RSR, 300+ hp, no aero and nothing but fat (ish) tyres and skill to keep you on the road. Mans car.

widow maker, not again!Slippy has got it right!Great cars they are the 3.0rs,but clearly needs a good set up if its going to throw you off the road.
