Cheap 996 GT3 RS
Discussion
Buy it before someone else does.
It 's a few grand cheaper than you'd expect, so even if it does have a couple of issues that your due diligence doesnt spot and they only show up a few months down the line, you can use the few grand you've saved to fix them.
Ill give you 'till Monday, then I'll look in to getting it myself !!

Three in the classifieds.
£47k, red, 39,000 miles. Mr 911
£57k, blue, 28,000 miles. K410 exhaust. JZM.
£59k, red, 27,000 miles. JZM.
The 47k car is the cheapest I've ever seen. Anyone know it?
I've seen the 47k car in person and heard it, sorry not driven. Does look in super good nick, def worth having a look at it.£47k, red, 39,000 miles. Mr 911

Agtlaw performed a over-rev interrogation I think.
He didn't buy it.
different car. the red one at JZM has been spanked more often than a ginger stepchild. He didn't buy it.
after which he got in touch to say he had another one coming in at around the same price, couple of grand more which would be this one i guess, he was supposed to be getting back to me on a part ex on the bmw but never did & then i sold that & didn't bother chasing anything up.
iirc the car he sold last time was the white/blue one that was up for sale privately off & on for ages down in kent i think?
the story was that when he sold that on so quickly the owner of this one got in touch to try & sell his.
i'm sure it has a memorable number plate on it but i can't remember it?

Yeah he also sold a yellow 996 GT3 Manthey not so long ago as well. Dont know if he Manthey was based upon a GT3 or RS.after which he got in touch to say he had another one coming in at around the same price, couple of grand more which would be this one i guess, he was supposed to be getting back to me on a part ex on the bmw but never did & then i sold that & didn't bother chasing anything up.

Looked nice too, but for having sat in this one and looked around it, seems like a very clean example.
I can recommend Clive mr911 - he sourced me quite a few nice kits over the past years, my 997.1RS was superbe and now my 1 lady owner CStradale: a pure screamer.
Fair enough, I just get bored by the whole rev range thing.
I didn't even have them read on my Mk1. Maybe I'm stupid in some peoples eyes, but if the car runs right and pulls right, I'm not really interested in going to the far end of a fart, to see when it was last revved hard.
I do admit to knowing my car well for four years prior to buying it, so if I was viewing a car I didn't know at all, I may consider the rev read out.
Like I say though, it's just so
How did we ever manage before them...

It was based on a vanilla GT3. It had a horrible sequential gearchange that would put the majority of potential owners off I'd have thought.Looked nice too, but for having sat in this one and looked around it, seems like a very clean example.

RR 2 isn't a massive issue, unless it's been done in the last 100 hours and the engine is either smoking , rattling or just plain noisy. If a car stacks up with RR2 indicated and displays any of the above issues, budget on a camchain, tensioners and guides change for piece of mind. Otherwise, just enjoy.

in december 2011 it was for sale with JZM. 26,950 miles.RR1 36471 - 853.2
RR2 274 - 853.2
861 operating hours.
it then sold. (or was taken off the market). the same car (chassis ..1411) now has 27,480 miles. so, i reckon another 12 engine hours or so.
i wouldn't buy this car - again for sale with JZM. if you're someone like slippydiff who drives like my grandmother and doesn't go anywhere near a track then it might be fine for a bit of polishing and sunday driving, but some of us do like to drive these cars as the porsche gods intended.
Of course, it takes real "talent" and skill to drive a mk1 off the road into the trees and write it off, as Slippydiff did. Especially at low speed. When I grow up I want to be just like him.

Quite, and one day the size of your ego, your bank balance and indeed your mouth will be matched by your talent behind the wheel. Until that day, I suggest you desist from posting such vitriolic piffle. RR1 36471 - 853.2

Do remind us, what profession is it you're in ? ?
But I digress, if the overrevs are within the last 100 hours, I'd ask for the vendor to pay for a leakdown test, if the results indicate that there's no loss of compression, I'd ask the vendor to factor in the cost of replacing the camchains, tensioners, guides and cam sprockets into the asking price.
