the front end looks better than the boxster but the rear end is still as ugly as the boxster,i think its the korean looking tailights and the rear diffuser from a fiesta plus the panamera style model designation

I think the rear would look better if the diffuser was to be in body colour.

These look like they could be the official PAG pictures. I guess we'll see later tonight.

Good find!

Do really like this, but the price is going to be the thing that would sway me on this I think. At what is probably going to be £60-65k I think it's a tad much.

That said, is a really good piece of design and I hope sells well

Whilst it's a lovely looking car the back end seems a little less dramatic somehow, I'm not sure if it's just the picture though?

Nice wheels, I love them!

The new Cayman

I am pleased to share with you the new Porsche Cayman (Type 981). The latest generation models, announced worldwide today at the Los Angeles Motor Show, continue the legacy of mid-engined Porsche Coupés which started with the 550 Coupé in 1953.

The mid-engined layout is the ideal configuration for a two-seater sportscar, harnessing the laws of physics to create great balance, responsiveness and stability. The 2.7-litre engine in the Cayman delivers 275 hp and generates 290 Nm of torque, whilst the Cayman S offers 325 hp and delivers 370 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 62 mph is achieved in 5.7 seconds for the Cayman and 5.0 seconds for the Cayman S. The new models also have a SPORT mode fitted as standard, delivering sharpened responses at the push of a button.

The new Cayman models will be on sale from 16 March 2013 and pricing is as follows:

Cayman
£39,694.00 (inc. VAT at 20%)
Cayman S
£48,783.00 (inc. VAT at 20%)

An order can be made by placing a deposit of £3,000 with our Porsche Centre. Included in the price is a driving experience at the Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone and a three year warranty.

For more information on the new Cayman models please contact us or alternatively visit the Porsche website.

Yours sincerely

Andy Stubbs
Sales Manager

Style and performance

Compared with its predecessor, the new Cayman carries a longer wheelbase and a wider front track, enhancing poise and balance. The new lines of the body are designed with aerodynamics in mind, whilst the tapered headlights hark back to historic Porsche’s such as the 904 GTS and legendary 917K.

Responsive handling

The heaviest of the cars' components are mounted low and positioned as close as possible to the centre of the chassis. This means a low centre of gravity and low polar moment of inertia translating into a truly immersive driving experience.

Experience through design

As well as exterior and engine developments, the new Cayman interior has been redesigned. The focus is on driver comfort and performance, delivering a sense proportion and space. The ergonomically designed centre console now positions the gear lever close to the steering wheel for intuitive smooth gear shifts.

I did a quick P'shop of how an R might look. I hope they don't wait until the facelift 981.2C version to launch this model.

Almost certainly will be available as an option. It is on the Boxster.

So add around £10-12k for (almost essential) options and the Cayman S is a 60 grand car as widely speculated on here it would seem

Found this link which seems to show an actual car in the flesh?
There's also a link to see the interior although the shots aren't great.
