Hi Guys,

Just wanted to say hello and say how ttruly blown away I am with the car!

Just wondering for some advice my car has the standard exaust system is it worth the expense on a PSE upgrade?

I work in the motor trade and very aware that there will be no fiscal benefit.

Thanks

Dan

I had the PSE retro-fitted after owning mine for two years. At £2,200 it was not cheap, it does nothing for the performance, but everything for the fun factor. For me, it adds a whole new level to enjoying the car. Mine is a cab, so I get even more of the effect biglaugh

My 997.1 S has the PSE. Took this a few days ago to see what my neighbours were complaining about...

I've disconnected the override function which switches it back to quiet between 20-40mph (approx) and it's brilliant.

It sounds amazing!!

I'm very annoyed though my cars clutch is slipping under acceleration this is something I told them was wrong before I bought the car!

They told me it had been through the workshop and to Porsche just for a pressure test and it was fine!

It slips above 4/5 under hard acceleration! Wait till I speak to them Tom lol

Ok so I've took the car to our local OPC dealer who say there Is nothing wrong with the ith but maybe something with the engine.

On the way home today it's done the same tho g again I'm pretty sure it's slipping!!

Not sure what do? Gonna speak to the dealer I bought it off a reputuble main dealer and ask if they can get it booked into OPC to diagnose is this car a potential money pit to walk away??

Help me please

I got the bypass mod done to my 997 C2S by Hayward and Scott. It sounded more like an air cooled 911 than a car with the factory PSE, but for the money £300 (I think) it was well worth it. I just wish there was something similar for my turbo.

To the OP, congrats on your new car, hope you get it sorted soon though, not fun having a new car with issues.

Re the PSE vs Gundo hack, I have been very much in two minds about which way to go. I am more inclined to go Gundo but then worry that it will be too loud if on all the time. Also, do you guys get any drone at motorway speeds? I would like to keep it civilised as much as possible but loud for when I am in the mood. Car is a weekend toy only though.

not too loud at all. i think the default option form H&S is a 1.5" pipe, but might have been 1". best to ask them what they recommend. I think some have gone up a size to 2", which does get loud. There's no drone. it only really sounds different when you're going for it. otherwise it's as quite as a standard exhaust.

I can second that, I went for 1.5" no drone at motorway cruising speeds, just a nice throaty rasp when you floor it! Search gundo hack in you tube there's a few examples.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've seen all the vids on youtube but its hard to tell, in particular things like drone etc.

I think I'll start off with having the Gundo hack and if I see its too loud/inconvenient I could always buy some used mufflers on ebay as I see plenty for sale at reasonable prices or, alternatively, spend a bomb on the factory PSE retrofit.
