" Porsche CEO Matthias Muller has finally confirmed that the company is working on a rival for the Ferrari 458 Italia – as Auto Express reported in May last year.

Muller wants to bridge the gap between performance models such as the 911 GT2 RS and the upcoming £672,000 918 Spyder hybrid supercar. The perfect car to slot into that space is a mid-engined supercar that Muller envisages will cost around £250,000."

911 will be middle class Porsche after this and finally MR-layout Porsche with Supercar performance returns.

I love Porsches, even the Pan and the Cayenne but this news fails to spark any interest with me!
I'd be interested in a Boxster Club Sport if thats on the cards though!

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what Porsche can do in this sector! 961 is an iconic number to me as I loved the 'original' (959 derived) 961 racing car.

At 250k (basic + options?) I'm hoping it will have a carbon tub. I wouldn't be put off by a version of the 918 V8 wink but I could live without all the hybrid stuff...

a good move for porshce IMO

what with the 458 and the MP4 fighting out in this sector, it will be really interesting to see what Porsche can come up with
