I'm looking at a 2005 997 C2S with 37k Miles. Asking price is 26,900.
Parkers has it set here http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/prices/used/porsche/... at 21,800 albeit with 70k miles at a dealer.

Are these parkers valuations resonable? should I really try to haggle the price down towards this (Obviously I will haggle but is it a no buy if I can't get the price down a fair bit?)

Dont believe everything on Parkers website. Its never massively accurate.

You are best simply doing your research and comparing against similar spec and milage cars currently for sale.

Having bought a 997 earlier this year, and thus researched the market quite a lot, I'd say that is a good starting price given mileage.

Is it on a private or dealer sale? I'd be a bit more weary of buying from a non Porsche specialist than one of the well known ones (rsj, Northway, 911 Virgin, etc).

As usual depends what work needs doing (if any). If its needing the usual suspects pretty soon (Front rads and a/c condensers, disks/pads, clutch) you can soon end up paying quite a bit to get it right. Get an inspection from a good porsche specialist, include a bore inspection if you are of a slightly paranoid or risk averse nature then go from there. If all checks out and its not in some crazy colour combo the price seems there or there abouts right. good lucksmile

I purchased my 2005 C2S for a lot less than that, with a great options list and 43k miles and just had it's major service done - I definitely got a bargain though. I would say if you can wait for 2-3 months, you can definitely pick up a bargain with a private trade on pistonheads.
