Considering this on my manual Spyder. Anyone had it done and if so how much? What's involved? Can I do any if it myself?

Cheers

I think it was about £800 fitted from OPC. You get a button, slightly slacker PSM and more sensitive throttle (and not in a good way). Save yourself the money, it's not really worth it.

Are the options more configurable if you have PCM?

Before I bought mine the Spyder I test drove had it fitted - I really couldn't tell the difference with the button pressed.

If it really is £800, I'd also save my money.

yes it's me again I had it fitted mainly for the lesser PSM interaction .

But I like the throttle in sports mode also, throttle feels a bit lethargic standard.

I had it taken off the Audi TTRS as that was daft and made you kangaroo, but Porsche sports mode is spot on imo.

was £700 but again like my Seats had it as part of the deal to buy the car.

Must have option imo along with Short shift.

I know some people with a lead foot don't like it so you will need to try it.

if I had to pay I would not fit it and put the £700/£800 towards the 360Bhp kit from Cargraphic
sports mode is standard on the remap and bolt ons :-)

up to
264KW/359PS and 412Nm

Consist of:
- ECU Control Unit Programming only
- Sport Air Filter
- Sport Rear Silencer either with- or without Flaps
- Sport Manifold Set incl. 2x200Cell Catalysers
- Intake Plenum

Cargraphic, whilst sounding very interesting, isn't something I'd pursue only because of warranty.

The cost came back from Cardiff OPC at £740 all inclusive - so generally the consensus is not to bother?

Depends how deep your pockets are.

First button pressed by me every time I get in the car, swiftly followed by the sports exhaust.

Throttle pick up is miles better, suits those light of feet. If you are a foot to the floor merchant then it's a waste of time but for sensitive types it's sublime. PSM less intrusive too. I like it.

M cars I've owned have had the M button which has a similar effect and yes I'd press that every time I drive them. Of course the M button is standard and not £740! I'm tempted to go for it but for a software download and a new row of buttons it's crazy money.

Tried it on my brother's Spyder. Complete waste of money IMO. Press the pedal further if you want to go faster. Turn the traction control off if you're confident enough to do so.

Mine came with it so I didn't really get the choice. It's not the same as turning traction control off though. It allows the car to slide a bit before intervening, demonstrably so at the PEC. I like the fact that you can pretend to be the Stig, there is no nannying but the car will step in and help before you throw it into the Armco. Better drivers won't want or need it, especially on track but it suits a novice like me fine.

Test drove a cayman s or boxster s with sport button and I have to say that personally I think it is a waste of money.

If I want some slip I turn PSM off.

The sensitive throttle may feel faster, but it physically isn't.

But you have a PDK, yes? Mine is manual so not so many obvious benefits.

The Spyder is so nicely balanced (plus I don't knowingly take it out in the rain), that the PSM refinements aren't such a big thing as if I feel the need I turn it off anyway. A more direct throttle would be nice - but £740 may be excessive for that. Still pondering.
