It will soon be time for some new tyres, at which point I will possibly change the wheels, the original turbo wheels make the car look a little dated IMO. I was dead set on fiting a set of 996 Turbo wheels but it seems that most people think that looks bad.

I wonder what peoples opinions are on putting the following wheels onto her

Lovely wheels, all depends if you want a genuine Porsche look or not?..

I don't know that im fussed about an "Genuine Porsche" look, I'll always have the original turbo wheels if I want to go back. What I'd really like is to see some pics of these wheels on a 996 ideally, or some other options preferably with pics too.

Have a look on Specialist Cars of Maltons website - a couple of 996's on there seem to have the same wheels.

What about Sport Technos? I changed mine from standard turbo twists to these and loved the looks.

I have to say they dont do it for me just looking at the wheel itself, got any pics of them on your car?

How about painting the original wheels, a different colour can dramatically change the appearance. I have my original wheels in silver and a second set painted black.

Just google '996 turbo wheels' in images and you get thousands of pics.

I must be one of the minority who actually likes the original turbo wheels! I think they suit the car and the best thing about them is they're very easy to clean!! The ones in the link would be very fiddly to clean. I think the only ones I would consider swapping mine onto would be set of the later spoked GT3 type wheels, if they were OP but that would work out very expensive!

Those wheels are quite nice, but perhaps a bit to fussy/angular for the 996t.

I'm with you - I think the standard wheels look very dated.

On threads on here, I've heard

1) They're much heavier than the standard wheels
2) They're much lighter than the standard wheels
3) They're much the same as the standard wheels

wobble

Anyone know which is right?

Might be worth looking at the current issue of Total 911 magazine. One correspondent has fitted lightweight Oz wheels to his 996 Carrera (c4?). Makes interesting reading, considering it's Total911 which isn't normally very interesting...

My old one with Technos (could've done with bigger spacers at the back)...

I think the Sportec jobbies suit the 996 much better though.
