Hi, first post.. So apologies for length...

I'm looking at getting my first 911 and currently looking for gen 2 used cabriolet, I'm moving up from a Volvo Cab so should be a big difference smile

I have seen a 2 year carrera at £54k with 12k mileage at an OPC, was a demo and then a 2nd owner so I wood be the 3rd. A bit expensive compared to private sales but you get the OPc 2 year warranty.

Any comments from the wise on the spec below for the price, number of owners a problem, worth getting from OPC, do you think OPC will be flexible on price as its quite a premium over similar private cars?

It's difficult to not get emotional as its the right colour, gen 2 and around the ballpark I'm after.

Ay comments appreciated...

19 inch SportDesign wheel
7-speed double clutch transmission (Porsche Doppelkupplung - PDK)
BOSE Surround Sound System
CDC-4 six disc CD/DVD autochanger
Cruise control
Extended navigation module for PCM 3.0
Floor mats
Heated seats
ParkAssist
Standard seat
Telephone module
Three-spoke multi-function steering wheel
Top tinted windscreen
Universal audio interface
Wheel centre set
Porsche VTS - vehicle tracking system

It's a good spec and the price seems sensible bearing in mind the warranty costs over £2,000. You buy from an OPC of you want peace of mind and someone to talk to if pretty much anything goes wrong. Mrs James-T bought her old Boxster from my usual OPC and when something did actually go wrong they couldn't do enough to put it right, but then again I do spend a fair bit in there wink

But it's a Cabriolet PDK which means that it's been test-driven by middle-aged ladies called Patricia, Frances, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Prudence, Eliza, Charlotte, Dorothy, Diana, Jacqueline, Gloria, Lucinda, Delia, Victoria, Alice, Grace, Helena, Cynthia, Emilia, Florence, Vivian, Susanne, Beatrice, Catherine, Norah, Pamela, Camille, Audra, Rosemary, Agatha, Alexandra, Madeleine, Matilda, Belinda, Verity, Abigail, Penelope, Henrietta, Ellen, Isabelle, Viola, Annabele, Hariett, Roberta, Vera, Judith, Gail, Bryony, Cecila, Ruth, Claudia, Edith, Caroline, Ginny, Betty, Tabitha, Emma, Bethany, Gabriella, Elaine, Angela and Felicity.

I doubt it's been ragged around a track....

As a test-driver, you're 100% correct. However...I get them as loan cars too...

I'm sure the technician returns the favour in your car, goes to the chip shop, does a track day and takes his mates down the pub in it wink

Yes, quite a big difference from a Volvo!

Don't worry too much about the overall spec, if you like the car, buy it, drive it, enjoy it!

I'm now looking to change mine in two weeks, and the market is down with so many options, i.e. high spec end of line 997's and lower mileage 991's, pros and cons to both options.......

The centre set wheels are necessarily a good thing - hard to find a set of winters and not everywhere has the tools necessary to torque the wheels up to the right level.

I don't imagine that wheel centre set refers to centre lock wheels.

Thanks for the replies..

I'm still looking at a couple of other cars around the similar price as this model seems a bit expensive for a base Carrera when a couple of S models are around for about £2.5k more.

This one seems to be the top of the book value at the moment, maybe a deal to be done in the coming months..

It's the end of the month - if they're keen to hit targets and you offer to leave a deposit to buy it TODAY OR TOMORROW then you may get them to agree to a lower offer. Worth a try. smile

Bought my C2S from OPC end of last month, which was also end of sales quarter. I was going to wait a few weeks so that I could get our drive resurfaced first, but the salesman kept upping the trade-in offer to do the deal by the end of September, until I cracked. Effectively ended up with about £4k off OPC list.

You might regret not having sports exhaust. Drive a car with it on and you will see what I mean.
