That's my point - there are cars out there in the year/miles range you're after, but only at or around £30k.http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...

I don't think that is too far of the mark. I have a 53 (04MY) in black and will be selling at Christmas as company finally decided to give me a company car (hopefully also a Porsche - so no need for two!).
Mine has 48k miles and is well spec'd with a good maintenance file - recent brakes, brake lines, clutch, all 3 rads, a/c condensers etc.
Whilst I may not be advertising it at £24k, is someone turned up and offered me £24k... who knows. It really depends on how desperate someone is to sell I guess.

I am in no rush and thought the boxster S I got as a station car would do, but now i have sold my Cerbera i have a space in my fleet and i am enjoying being back in a porker (had a couple of 911's before 993 and 996 C4S)

Looking for a good 996 turbo 03 onwards, 50k, not worried about much else in terms of spec, i am thinking around £24K max??
Thoughts??
Not being funny, but what happens when you put those criteria into the Pistonheads* Classifieds Search function?Thoughts??
How many results do you get?
(* other Classifieds Search functions are available)

4 results.
2 of which are 'Hendon Way Motors' with their £1 listings,
1 is a sneaky 'wanted' listing
and the other is a tiptronic with 59 miles on it (presumbaly actually 59,000)
So basically thre are no results with that criteria, so I suggest that this:

...am thinking either raise your price / mileage expectations or lower the year you're aiming at. At least another 5K to hit an '03 with those miles.
Is likely to be correct.AshleyPatience said:

Indeed. It's not to say it's impossible to get an 03 or later turbo with less than 50k miles for £24k if you're very patient and find somebody who's desperate to sell. But I think that is quite different from a "£24k MAX" which makes it sound like you have the pick of the bunch and there is no reason you'd have to pay more.davek_964 said:

Agree, i should not have put MAX on there, rather around 24k

p.s. You should at least be fussy as to whether you want a manual or a Tiptronic (auto) transmission. Totally changes the character of the car.Usual comment, drive both, decide which you prefer (but the manual is the one to go for
)If you do decide that the auto is the one for you, they do tend to be cheaper than a manual equivalent.

, it was ok but will not ever buy another tip...Agreed, I sold my 2003 turbo not that long ago and have to say the writer is only going to find a desperate seller or car with many more miles. you might get a tiptronic but good luck to you with that!

I find these 'value' threads a bit strange.
Imagine 2x 996 turbos exact same spec, exact same mileage and year, exact same appearance and service history. Both offered for -say- £28k..
One of them could easily need rads, maf sensors, tyres, discs, pads, clutch, large service and cost its new owner £5-£10k.
Obviously some of these can be spotted easily. But rads and clutch for example may not be that obvious.
I wrote it countless times: always made sure I bought EXPENSIVE rather than cheap. Always made sure I bought the best possible car out there.
