Have considered selling my 997 C2S a few times this year due to lack of use. Do you folks in the know think it's too late in the year now to try?

Hi Tim
.
As long as you price it correctly then it will sell.

I think you are asking would it sell for more next summer?

I don't believe it would, so price correctly and sell now.

You can offer it for sale anytime you like. There's no 'closed season'.

Put my Z4M coupe on the market & it sold within 10 days, had to knock 100 quid off the asking price.

If its a good car, priced right it'll sell.

Only chance now is to offer an incentive, like a free reindeer.

Hi, I tried to sell my 993 this time last year, failed miserably. I then took the time to prep it properly for sale - painted the front to get rid of stone chips, refurbed the wheels, took off a nasty rear spoiler and put it back to standard, polished and cleaned it to death. I re advertised it in April this year and was beating off the buyers...sold for full asking price, which was £4k more than I tried to sell it at in winter and for £7k more than a well known trader offered me for it. What I learnt is, prep your car exceptionally well if you want to sell at a good price, most buyers want shiny, as near as perfect as possible cars and the market is definitely quieter in winter.

What he said - I dropped my C2S in Dec '07 for 42k and by the following April, they were 34k.

That said, there was a slight resurgence in the prices during '09 - '10, but those were unknown economic times, even for the so called experts.

We are properly in a slump now, so prices are only going down IMHO?

in a similar situation....same car...sometimes think about selling as 4.3 amv8s look pretty tempting but having had similar work done to mine I think it would be a shame to hand it over to someone for a 12-18 months of nothing other than regular servicing needed...i'm gonna keep it for at least that much longer...then hopefully get into a 4.7 amv8 or who knows...if there is itch that needs scratching get a cheap lotus elise on the side.

Why not try some of the specialists and let them bid on it, it sounds like a car they would be interested in.

They will probably bid around 2-4k less than you could get on a private sale.

And theres always WBAC for a laugh!

I've had my 2006 2.7 boxster up for sale for roughly 5- 6 weeks, seems reasonably priced at £11.5k had two email enquiries and that's it not a single viewing. Feels like I'm giving it away at that price as it has over £15k of options fitted with full history etc. My experience is it's very quiet out there at the moment.
