Key start worry

My 1989 S2 Cabrio occasionally, when I turn the key to start, does nothing! I then try again & (so far) off she goes.
First time I thought...dodgy starter,,,,did the immobiliser not cancel...poor earth, but it has happened a few times do I have an electrical Gremlin? Iffy relay??
Any ideas out there?
