Namely, what is a wide body? C2S? C4S? Does that mean the GT3's were a narrow body (C2?) unless an RS? the sports classic & gts were wide weren't they? So does that mean the earlier cars weren't confused

When dd the gen2 cars start coming through & is there an easy way to tell the difference?

Any other hints or tips on these cars?

C2 and C2 are narrow, C4S, Turbo are both wide (not sure about GT3's)

Gen 2 are from about late 08 or early 09.

Main differences are LED lights at the rear with a slightly different shaped bumper. LED's at the front, different engine design and PCM3 along with black revised switchgear. PDK also introduced on Gen 2.

Aside from that it would be difficult to notice the difference from the outside.

Right so look for the rear lights basically to look for a gen2. So a C2S isn't the wide body & the new sports classic Fuchs-alike wheels won't fit scratchchin

The C2 and C2S are narrow bodied, as is the "standard" GT3 - that goes for both "gen1" and "gen2" cars.

The C4/C4S, Targa 4/4S, GT3 RS, Turbo, Sport Classic, GTS and GTS 4 are all wide bodied.

The Gen 2 cars are easily identified by LED rear lights and front daytime running lights, along with the newer PCM3 audio/nav setup (although just to confuse you, there are some MY2008 gen 1 Turbos with the PCM3 setup, but I'm just being pedantic mentioning those wink)

Cheers,
Pete

Be careful that you are looking at a gen 2 as many gen 1 owners are fitting the later lights.

Many thanks gents, ideally I'd have liked to fit the fuchs type alloys but it looks like they won't fit the c2/s.

Having only the bianchi in the garage is starting to grate a little

You can buy genuine Fuchs from JZM in the UK, plus others in Europe. In my opinion they're nicer than the Porsche-alikes.

True, but proper gen 2 lights are a different outline shape to the gen 1's - they sort of have the corner cut off, compared to the gen 1's?

"I think" you can't fit proper gen 2 lights on a gen 1 as the bumper cut outs are different?

Oh & one other question, seeing as most ads state any carrera is a "wide body" with a "sports exhaust" which is the button if it does have the switching exhaust?

There's a panel on the centre console that presumably has pasm, exhaust & traction control etc on it, I take it here's a fixed order that they go in?

You have to get a gen 2 bumper as well as the lights and relays if you want the full gen 2 lights.

I've been having a google on this & they all seem different, does anyone have a scan from an owners manual to confirm?

manual spoiler activation is on the extreme left and PSM is on the extreme right.

there can then be up to two additional buttons on a Gen 1 car:

PASM
PSE
PASM + PSE
PASM + Sport - sport activates the PSE if fitted

you can't have "PASM + Sport + PSE" on a Gen 1 car, but i believe you can on a Gen 2

a piccy of my Gen1 interior (note the centre console is silver-grey, wheras Gen2s are all black).

The buttons at the very bottom, below the sat-nav and the heater controls are (from the left) Spoiler control, PASM (active suspension gagetary) and Sports Exhuast. Then to the far right is Traction Control.

The sports Exhaust has a picture (amazingly) of an exhaust on it. I believe PASM is standard on a Carrera "S", so if you have all 3 buttons, you've got a Sports Exhaust. However, on a Carrera (non "S"), PASM is optional, so you might only have two buttons and the secon button could be PASM or Exhaust!

Alternatively, a sports exhaust looks like this (big pipe, smaller pipe)

Hope that helps??!

Paul.
