Remap 986 Boxster - where?
Discussion
Where can I get a remap for my 2000 986 Boxster S? In a few weeks I will have finished a few simple breathing mods - larger throttle body, larger diameter inlet tract, headers, silencer, air filter etc. I'm not looking for one of the generic reflash versions but something tweekable or honed on the car.
I'd prefer somewhere in the south and enquired with Bob Watson, but that was a no go.
Has anyone got any recommendations of who I can try?

Thanks chaps. I am on Boxa and am aware of Chip wizards. The question was asked on Boxa recently and Chip wizards was the response. I was hoping for a competent outfit down south. The ecu must be the same as a 996 surely? Anyone remap these down south?
I might just have to travel up!
When I looked into it, Ed... Wayne was the only person I would use I might just have to travel up!

try EVOMS or Softronic
I would have not tuned and put the money towards a 987 car though.
Unfortunately, generic maps won't work with the mods the OP has done. Using a larger throttle body is the issue here. Due to the larger diameter, the airflow for any given throttle angle - particularly at part throttle - will be higher than expected by the ECU's standard maps. Whilst the MAF sensor will correctly measure the increased airflow, the changes can still cause a check engine light (and limp-home mode) if the new, measured flow values fall outside the permissible ranges built into the standard mapping. The larger TB will also render the inbuilt alpha-N mapping (used if the MAF is disconnected) unusable. The calculated airflow values will be nowhere near the actuals and the engine will run impossibly (i.e. dangerously) lean.I would have not tuned and put the money towards a 987 car though.
Any remap for a larger TB needs to address these issues as well as the ignition timing requirements. Most (if not all) generic maps assume the standard TB diameter will be used.
Even more reason why Wayne Schofield is the correct answer to this one.
I did have a look at EVOMS http://www.regal-shop.co.uk/porsche/acatalog/evoms... and there is a map to account for air filter and exhaust/headers. Whether it can be further tweeked for a 68 to 75mm throttle body I wouldn't know yet.
Budget for a custom one, Ed and it will be optimal for your setup, if the tuner is good (which Wayne is). Frankly, it's probably not massively different in cost to the off-the-shelf solutions (it wasn't when I looked) and you can get before/ after rolling roads. Just make sure they know what ECU you have as early 996 ones were the same as 993 (I believe) and needed some different equipment, but I'm not sure about the Boxster. I'm sure Wayne can answer all this though
