OK, been thinking about this but which one would be better;
A 996TT (possibly converted to RWD) or a Cayman with a supercharger (if one exists)

Im talking about used values so say 25K for a 996TT in oem spec vs a 20k cayman in oem spec before respective modding

One the 996tt front, i guess you could say its a more sorted car from the off, mezger engine etc but then is it to fast for the road

Or the cayman, which im guessing is more supple for the b road bash but with a s/c, make it gt3 like but then youve got the potential issues with the engine.

ask yourself this if a cayman had a gt3 engine from the factory which would be quicker and which would have customers bought a 911gt3 or cayman gt3 i am in the cayman corner!even in standard form a cayman will keep up with a 911 turbo on a b road without the advantage of 4wd

I've seen this a bit on here and on US forums - where did the designation TT come from, Porsche have never made a TT, they've made a turbo that has two turbos fitted but never, as far as I'm aware a 930/964/993/996/997TT?!

didnt the 996t get its arse whipped by cayman on the tg track by about 8 seconds, ok it was wet for the 996t but with 4wd that only accounts for 4 secondslaugh

Much as I like my 996 turbo, I would think a 996 turbo converted to RWD would basically be a fat bloated under powered GT2. Not really appealing.

Just checking TG website says, "Porsche Cayman 1.26.2" / "Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible 1.22.2"

these are both in the dry. I would think the hardtop would even be a little faster IMHO.

the 930 and 964's were single turbo, the 993 was referred to as the 993 Turbo4 from memory, the 996 started to be referred as the TT on forums and it stuck.

Well it'd have to be the Cayman because a 996TT doesn't exsist! laugh

I've seen plenty of mention of Turbo Caymans on the US forums (mostly when they've expired on the track!) but I'd have to say I'd be reluctant to turbo my Cayman without a lot of component upgrades within the engine.

I'm a bit confused. You want to compare unique/bespoke thing A with unique/bespoke thing B without any criteria for the comparison? How does that work exactly?

Other than that you are wrong...simples. biggrin
