I'm currently in Paris to attend the final day of the motor show tomorrow, having driven down in my 997.1 C4S earlier today.

While changing my lights to "continental mode" on the Eurotunnel train it struck me that altough the process isn't that difficult (particularly when you've done it a few times before) it is a bit of a pain in the ar*e, particularly when you effectively have to empty the front boot to access the tool kit etc.

I'm hoping that this is something that can be configured easily on the 991 from the driver's seat via the PCM etc??

That would make a lot more sense - can anyone confirm ??

if you get PDLS, it's a simple few flicks of the OBC stalk .. otherwise, it's the 997 routine

Thanks - that's good to know.

PDSL would have been on my provisional future spec anyway, not that I do a lot of continental driving!

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but i am a real technofobe and can't open a new topic. Anyone have experience with the 991 powerkit? What is included (pdcc also or just pse and sc)? What happens to power and torque curve?

Tx

£9388 rrp

re PDCC - approx £2k, or with -20mm lowered suspension £2700. 991 looks much better with the -20mm drop IMHO.

I am a new 997 Gen 2 owner. Can anyone send me a link describing how to change the lights to "continental mode"? Thanks

Well, when looking at a new Cayenne recently, I was told that the lights on the Cayenne automatically adjust when entering France etc, it uses the GPS location from the satnav and flips the lights over for you.

Think I'd do the same if I was ordering one again, it's not worth bothering with as I'm sure you wouldn't notice the difference

depends if you want sports exhaust and sports mode

as if you do the power kit is not really £9388 then as you don't need the 2 items listed below as they are inc.
I think a design pack power kitted 991 is the way to go ;-)
then the power kit is only £6,240 which sounds much better and a tic box worth having if you have 100k to spend anyway on a 991 :-)

Sport Chrono Package Plus £ 1,376.00

Sports exhaust system £ 1,772.00

6.2% more £ for 7.5% more power. Doesn't sound too bad to me! If you have 100k for a car. What's an extra 6k!!

bragging rights is worth way more :-) I like the idea of owning a power kit (sounds great)
and come resale the power kitted cars will sell very very well becasue there are a lot of 991's for sale for such a new car.

Over 6500 looking at the graphs....

Personally I think the powerkit looks awesome, only slight loss of torque at 4500rpm then a proper screamer holding the power to 7750rpm.

Quite why the regular Carrera can't have this motor configuration as standard is a disgrace but we know how Porsche like their wonga

I've never driven an X52 car, but my X51 996 is a bit more fun to drive and more responsive than the non-X51 car. On paper it's a small improvement, but it really comes alive at the end of the rev counter.

Power kit was a disappointment on the 997.2 me thought - I reckon if you blasted 2 cars side-by-side down a runway you wouldn't notice the benefit of it. Perhaps the 991 is better?

Power kitted 997 was faster to a point than the GT3 :-)
Gear ratio,s help the cause but I have a full test write up of a GT3 vs power kitted 911.

Indeed I was told that power kit engines get a lot of special attention during the build up.

Porsche must've forgot to put the powerkit on mine then, cus the GT3 was quite a bit quicker than the GTS. To any point.
