Closed loop interference when ipod on charge - grrrr!
Discussion
Chaps, whenever I plug my ipod into the charger (which connects to the footwell power socket), I get a load of interference through the stereo when listening to mudic. It sounds like a faint whistling noise and rises and falls with the revs of the engine. I'm told that this is caused by the car's electrical system and is "closed loop interference". When I remove the charger from the socket (whilst still playing music from the ipod), the interference is gone. Trouble is, I need to put my ipod/iphone on charge once a day and when listening to music I don't always have enough charge to do the journey without plugging it in.
I have the basic AUX socket under the armrest, rather than the USB Universal Audio Interface.
Any ideas for getting rid of this annoying noise whilst charging and listening to music simultaneously?

..I would suggest you get the proper Ipod cable for it, mines fine on the cable, it permanently plays / charges, but I have had issues with lots of gadgets and a 3.5mm jack outlet when they are charging, inc my laptop.. same whistle / interference..
Don't think that'll work in mine. This is the cable right?
Well in my car, I ONLY have the Aux connection, not the USB/ipod sockets. I have a Line out to 3.5mm jack so sound comes from the main "dock" connector of the ipod (not the headphone jack) into the 3.5mm Aux socket under the arm rest. Of course, the Aux socket on its own doesn't provide a charging capability so I'm reliant on plugging in to either the cigarette lighter or footwell power socket for charging. And it's when I plug in to charge that I get this closed loop interference....
Damned annoying!
One other weird thing I've noticed is that when the ipod is plugged in to the footwell power socket it continues to charge even when I've switched the car off and removed the key from the ignition. I presume if I left it like that for a long time it'd drain the car's battery! So, I have to remember to unplug it every time I leave the car. You would have thought Porsche would have fitted a power socket that only works when the engine/ignition is on.....

..I had loads of trouble with noise on the signal on mine about 6 months back actually now I remember, I ended up putting a big suppresser on the battery and it took almost all of the background signal out, you will be best to consult a car adio specialist and let him look at it, mine drove me nuts to correct, but it's fine now..
With the correct cable it should charge/play on a common cable..
