Went to start the car this morning, it tried to turn over but not enough juice in the battery to start it, bogger !
The ammeter dial on the dash has been showing a constant 14v on recent journeys, hopefully the alternator is OK. The battery is less than a year old, should be OK. The car has only been left for 3 days.
Where to start looking before I take it to the garage and get bent over ?
2004 Cayenne 4.5S

Any thoughts please ?

Put it on the charger for 24hrs.

My battery is a few month old and it took 18hours to fully charge. Have not driven it a lot recently.

If the battery is fully charged, you should also check the condition of the lead from the battery to the starter motor; deterioration/corrosion of the power feed can lead to a struggle starting and if it is OK, the starter motor itself.

Unlikely I'll be able to trace the cable from under the passenger seat to the starter motor at the roadside . Looks like I'll be off to the garage .

Thanks for the replies.

Just connect a jump lead from the battery straight onto the positive terminal on the starter - if it starts first turn, then the cable is at fault.

That makes it a volt meter. An ammeter would read .... Amps.
