991 used pricing
Discussion
Well to be fair most of the C2S's I've seen start from about £75K, but yes, point taken, which is why so many on PH hesitated when the car was first announced. Personally, if I was to take the plunge, I would want a SPASM equipped manual and they're much thinner on the ground, but I'm still not sure if I can get used to that steering .....

I had one for a whole weekend and the steering is fine. Yea it's not as good as the gt3 I had but it really is still leagues better than the m3 I also had on demo.
The 991 is awesome and it really impressed me, just need to buy very carefully to avoid a costly ownership! Think I will wait until the depths of winter to see what deals are around....
Yup - I think my GT3 has ruined me when it comes to steering feel. The 991 is seeping into my thoughts only because the girlfriend doesn't like the GT3 - "it's too uncomfortable on anything but a freshly surfaced A road" (although she likes the speed / noise). She preferred the 997 C2S I had before ..... The 991 is awesome and it really impressed me, just need to buy very carefully to avoid a costly ownership! Think I will wait until the depths of winter to see what deals are around....

Agree, unless you're after a specific spec a brand new one looks painful at the mo, some great used 991s to be had. The manual c2 for 66k at cardiff opc looks like a great buy.
If you want nearly new, Porsche used car locator shows a 300 mile C2 manual for 70k at Glasgow.Pioneer said:
Tony, get a bid on your car when it's 12 months old, I bet it's not far off 50% of list!
Early 991s are already almost a year old. The car came out in September and deliveries started in November. it's October on Monday. Seen any listed for £40 to £50k? Now factor in the £10k discount many (including me) got off their brand new (ie non-demonstration vehicle) 991s and halve the lower price instead of the list price. Then do your sums and come back with a properly thought through answer. The 991 will lose 50% over three years, not one, like any other mass-produced car. Why should it be any different?

I neither need to invent figures to support my argument, nor justify myself to you. Why don't you just pop down your local OPC and ask them what deal they'll do? They are all offering good discounts on new cars to order.Pioneer said:

You are spot on, wifes boxter cost £59789.00 this time last year, just been to opc at Hatfield they gave me a trade in price of £29995.00 against a new caymen s...I think she will keep the boxter another 3 years now, gutted...............Edited by TOV!E on Thursday 27th September 13:12

No, I agree, but you seem to be living on another planet as far as your perceived 991 residual opinion. What you got off at the front, you simply lose at the back when you sell. They offered good discounts when I was looking back last Christmas...thats what put me off. They are over priced and have never sold well IMO.

Your logic is sound. But didn't I say in an earlier post just this morning that I expect to lose 50% over 3 years. How is that pie in the sky? The debate here was excited by the suggestion 991s will lose that much in a single year, which is clearly nonsense. They are over priced and have never sold well IMO.
