Thers a very nice looking 911T in the classifieds, (and on ebay), the ad makes a point of saying it retains it's original build labels, yet has had a full bare-metal respray.

How is this possible?

Steamed of or hairdryer? Most likely to be copies or new labels, as it would be difficult to get them off without damage I would think.

i understand from a conversation with the peter morgan bloke who did an inspection for me on a 993 a couple of years ago that there is quite a market in fake "original" stickers. Once they became seen as an article of authenticity it seems there was an incentive for people to forge them...

I think you'll find that they are metal tags and not stickers. Hence it retains its original build labels

Depends which labels they're referring to. Pretty much all of them are available from one source or another, added to which just because you do a bare metal respray, it doesn't mean you [i]have[/] to bare metal both sides of the panel . . . .
The metal foil stickers are difficult to remove without it being obvious, most of the others can be removed if care (and the right technique) is used.

If you look carefully, the B-post decal appears to have overspray, so probably is the original and they masked around it once or twice in the past.

Just mask around them
