a while back there was a running dispute between me and other members of this forum to which of boxster spyder/caymanR was the rarer on our shores, now that the Q2 2012 figures have been released by the department for transport and thus copied over to www.howmanyleft.co.uk we now have our answer.
caymanR 245 registered new
spyder 231 registered new(clarified by porsche uk)

since this only includes Q1 2012 figures there should be more caymanR to come.

since there are more caymanR to come the above may be true for a manual crrotate

joking aside they are both great cars and still better looking imho than a 981 as long as they have the proper seats and wheels

also and being MID ENGINED cars look an absolute bargain up against the 918spyder,even the £160k+ car porsche are building to compete with mclaren/ferrari is going to be mid engined ala cayman/boxster!

Seing as Henry just sold a spyder for 30k I'm not sure how 50% depreciation in 2 years is that clever.

Seems strange to sell on at 30k

I guess he got scared of it this time of year and also got it at a nice price.
Still think its one of the best cars Porsche has ever made.
It's certainly one of the best cars to drive they make and that's what makes them a steel ATM.

He should take a look at OPC Nottingham's prices, the one I tried to buy was down at 36 & has recently gone back up to 38k!

Or maybe not seeing as Henry sold his within a week scratchchin

As an owner I'm expecting them to hold decent money for the foreseeable future, rs60 ltd edit spyders were up for silly money and aren't anywhere near as special as the Spyder. Your always going to get people selling Cars on the cheap sometimes down to unfortunate financial circumstances where they need to get rid quickly.

more to come? you are speculating again....... The numbers are very close (give or take).. they are very small numbers which is what I said many months ago.

given the caymanR numbers are lower than i first thought(circa 300 caymanR) but since we have only the figures to march 31st 2012 and i have seen cars advertised on the opc website with april, may and june first registrations i think i might be right again.
its the worldwide numbers i am more interested in finding out!going by the chassis numbers there is some 5000(3500+ north america and 1500+ rest of world) caymanR whereas it has been said before there are only 1881 spyders(750+ N.A. and 1100+ R.O.W.)

its a shame porsche dont give out the info as freely as say BMW

just to add i would say any one who has a 2011/12 model year caymanS/boxsterS has got a rarer car and even rarer are the Black Editions which share the same engine increase in hp

I agree that the worldwide numbers for CR are much greater than spyder. but the numbers in the UK are much smaller than the worldwide ratio would suggest.
