Telephone Module Microphone Location
Discussion
Hi guys,
I have the telephone module in my 997.1 with PCM 2.1 - it has a sim card slot and it makes and receives calls almost perfectly. The microphone is the issue and seems to be the weakest link here as anyone I call hears a lot of static/road noise/etc over my chatter.
Where is the microphone and is there anything I can do to the system to improve it?
Do they fail? Would a new microphone help for instance... or am I just going to have to live with it.
I asked OPC and they said "They all do that sir", which is coincidentally the first time I've heard the exact phrase!
Anyone any experience/better ideas on here?
Many thanks,
sb

Mic is in the column trim - under the perforated grille - std fit from factory was on the lhs of the trim. There is a two disc phone SW upgrade available to rewrite the noise cancellation parameters - essentially the cancellation function cannot differentiate between unwanted noises and the driver's voice in certain tones/pitch ranges.
Get the mic position checked and moved to the rhs of the trim and have the phone SW updated by your OPC - the issue is well documented and PCGB fought the phone manufacturer hard to accept the quality issue in the first place - might as well make the MOST of it
