My dad had the 911 at the Porsche Club Annual Concours at Scone Palace today where he was awarded first prize and given 200 points out of 200, so a perfect score. Almost unheard of (as far as i'm concerned) in concours.
Just thought that was pretty cool
Some pics of the car (not from today though).

Car looks simply stunning.
I don't understand how they score concours and what merits (or de-merits) a point deduction? Can you explain how harsh they are, i.e. will any stone chip deduct a point, will any sign of wear deduct a point or, can the car be visibly used but still 'perfect' ?

Podro, a bit of fluff in your sunroof runners will have you burned at the stake! I don't understand how they score concours and what merits (or de-merits) a point deduction? It's serious! I admire the cars that enter and would love to have one that clean but the dedication needed is unreal.
Hat's off to the people who enter though.

That's what I suspected. I'm OCD about my cars, but anything that gets used is going to take some serious hours to keep in that condition, so I guess you either have to have total dedication to put the hours in, or trailer the car everywhere???
I got into it very slightly in my Ford RS club days, but yeah you just get people trailering their cars etc. Not implying that the OPs car was trailered, but it's entirely his choice anyway.
They brought out a "working class" for cars that were used, but all that happened was that when the perfect trailered cars started not winning their class, the owners would just think "Ok, I'll drop into working class and clean up there".
The cars are something to behold mind, but some of the conversations you'd hear were a bit funny. Things like "Ooh, you'll never beat him on exhaust!". They weren't talking about noise or fit, simply how polished it was! The whole system too, not just the rear box.
I quickly realised there's more to life than powdercoating suspension arms and parking up with little mirrors next to your car so passers-by could view the underside.
I'm not knocking the op though. That car is stunning but "clean" doesn't even begin to cover concours.
I must add, I'm on about modified class above. There was a standard class for factory standard cars. This involved Cosworth owners adding Ribena to their header tanks to get the correct pink colour that the car left the factory with.

Agreed 200/200 points is unusually rare indeed, interested to know the mileage of the turbo as there is normally a 10 point deduction penalty for low mileage cars, presume this was a class 3 air cooled category,
there is an incredible amount of prep work involved in entering a concours so congratulations to your Dad, I won a class 3 concours last weekend for the 3rd year running and accumulated 213 points from a possible 230
which gave me the highest points of the day and a second trophy on the day, guess each PCGB Region must have a different point scoring system, in any event congratulations

.. I know a guy who Concours his F40, it's box trailered/pampered to within an inch of its life.. he was gutted at a mark down and demerit 1 year, on a row of pozi screws holding a trim panel on that the crosses 'were not in line'.. and a differnet row of bolts that the flats were not in line too.. anal +1.. but that's concours..!
You are not allowed to trailer cars to Porsche Club concours events, assuming this was a street class event. Also the cars are not allowed to be brand new and must cover minimum mileage with deductions for not doing so. Street class only governs the exterior, interior and luggage bay. So no extra points for polishing the engine bay or behind each fuse
We do have a marking scheme not that we are forced to use it, as each Region is free to run its events as it sees fit, so follow the street rules and some simply do show and shine.
They are supposed to be fun and entertaining not an exercise in anal activities
Apart from anything else there aren't enough competitors to run that many events to that level and getting judges who know what are talking about is hard work.
I am impressed that you got full points with non standard indicators though. Still vey nice car.
