Is Cobalt Blue a faux pas come resale time?
Discussion
I've been viewing a couple of 996 and 997 Turbos and had originally planned to have less of an outlay and go with the 996 but after looking at each I've decided with the whole head/heart thing that I really do want the 997.
Looking at the classifieds there are a few available with decent mileage, manual box, sport chrono etc, and one of them is a Cobalt Blue one, I've been looking at the classifieds quite regularly for the last couple of months and Black and Grey ones seem to sell quicker, is Cobalt an unpopular colour?, I myself really like it and think it looks stunning but am a bit concerned I might get stuck with it when I want to sell, I'm planning on keeping it for around 2 years, so obviously I do want to get something that won't hang around for ages when the time comes to move it on.
If this was an issue to you personally would you still think about a Blue one?, or would you play it safe with Black or Grey?.

I have a Colbalt Blue 996 and think it is a fantastic colour.Better than the boring Black and Greys and shows off the lines of the car.If I was buying a new 991 I would have it in Aqua Blue another fantastic colour.
You are buying the car so buy the colour that you want dont take any notice of anybody else. When you sell the car you may get slightly less or more than other colours.
Go buy the Cobalt one.

Let's face it. You will suffer a little come resale time. The reason is not because it isn't a boring colour like black or grey (like my cars). But it's because of all the bold colours it isn't up there in the popularity of sy or gr.
Having said all that who cares! Buy the one you want! But when you buy make it a negotiating advantage that it isn't a popular colour. Rather than going to view and saying "this is my favourite colour!" Otherwise you will lose out when you buy and when you sell!

I had a cobalt cayman s and really liked the colour. Quite dark shades in poor light, but the colour stood out in sun.
I think the 997 turbo looks stunning in cobalt.
There will always be someone else who likes it come resale. As is the case now!
If you like it, then get it and enjoy and not worry what a stranger might like later on.
It isn't exactly a risky colour for the future.

Obviously I would use the colour to my advantage when buying, I wouldn't say I like it more than the Black or Grey ones, it just looks more interesting and I know how much of a nightmare Black can be to keep clean, just wanted to see if Cobalt was a deal breaker for others more than anything I guess.Having said all that who cares! The one thing that is a deal breaker for me is a Tip, I'm sure they're great Auto boxes, just I really want a manual.
Colours are a really personal thing though, for me I'm not keen on Guards Red on the 997 at all, but on older models and the new 991 I think it looks brilliant.

check out my cobalt blue 996, you wont find a better example, i love the colour, it was an option on the 996, but after high demand it was made a stock colour for the 997. the black interior makes it timeless, whereas the grey or brown interiors can be a personal taste. silver or black in my opinion are a little mundane for such a special car.
