Thinking of getting my GT3 wrapped not because the paint work is bad if fact its mint with just an odd chip Just fancy a colour change.
Anyone had this done or recommend anyone in the south or is it not worth it.
Whats the finish like does it look like polished paint work or not.

Thanks in advance

Mint and 'a few chips' are not equitable. Either it is mint or it isn't.
A few chips is very good................

i would have thought a wrap on a GT3 would wipe thousands of the price, in fact would it not be cheaper to swap.

Great car by the way.

Cheers Jontymo yes I think your right I was thinking this myself so I have a few people I deal with looking for what I want if in fact if its around. prepared to wait a long time no need to sell really only for the fact of a colour change.
Bennachie. Yes I think maybe 5 or 6 tiny chips only on the whole car counts as mint for a 2004

I think they look a bit st.

normally orange peal finish and remember they cut it on your car, which rules it out for me even thinking about it.

not seen many good wraps, the blue 996 GT3 at the last Pistonheads Sunday servce would be enough to put you off.

you seem to get what you pay for so 3k for one which might look ok seems the ball park.

keep it lit

I had my old 996 GT2 wrapped, it looked great but would I do it again? no.

When it came off it took some laquer off the rear bumper. Its not cheap either at 1500 and do you really want people near your car with scalpels!

Save you cash and get it painted!

get it painted and then you will never sell it.

never seem a good fully repainted car either, it's just not possable to do a colour change with out strip down which would be 5k+ maybe more.

That looks stunning. I would suggest that £1500 ish for a wrap where a full front paint protection for a Porsche in expel is around £1300 is good value. I know it's not the same thing ... But

How was the finish? I saw godzilla'sNissan GTR wrapped in purple and look very good. Very tempted to scratch the viper green itch....Or maybe burnt orange

Did the pulled off lacquer repair easily? Once polished was the rest of the paintwork ok? Did it protect from stone chips?

Never mind the the car ... feel the colour http://images.pistonheads.com/nimg/21375/tn_Show_2...

Bloody awful stuff - once I knew a car had a wrap I just moved on - you just don't know what horror stories may be hiding under the "skin".
Can't see the point and what happens when the wrap is ripped by some low flying stone?

There are enough horror stories around to put me off I think. But each to their own.

Morning, I own and run a small wrapping company in Ashford (Kent).

As with most things, its only the bad news that gets brandished around, and good goes fairly unnoticed.

Wraps can be polished just like paint to build up the shine, but depending on the colour you choose, they are pretty good anyway.

Yes the vinyl is cut on the car, but if cut properly, they there should be no marks left on the car when the wrap is removed.

If anyone has any questions, drop me a mail to my work account (info@wrapitinvinyl.com), and I'd be happy to reply/give you a call.

The wraps I have seen on the godzilla Nissan GTR and ultima GTR have looked fantastic, and when compared to a respray, cheap. It looks like you can have metallic equivalent as well, and means if I buy a metallic something grey GT3 so I know it will appeal to most on re-sell, I can wrap in viper green, protect the paintwork and have an outlandish car!

There are most "colours" now available as vinyl, you get matts, gloss, carbon affect, mirror (although these are VERY specialist & expensive), metalic & even pearl affect.

The Prius (I know, I know, sorry getmecoat) is a metalic pearl orange, and in sunlight, looks absolutely stunning (as a colour).

I'll take some pictures of the colour swatches over the next few days & will post again - if anyone is interested ?
