Presumably, as and when the N-version of the Supersport becomes available it will be 'N1' as the first generation of this tyre?!

I have some Michelin Pilot Super Sport (Non-N rated) tyres on my car and I have just done 2500 miles on them across several European countries, several mountains in Switzerland and lots of French autoroutes and I would like to report the following...

Nothing broke on my car
My car handled extremely well in sunshine and biblical rain
I am still alive

But I thought the N on the side of the tyre was the difference between life and death? I'm sure that's what the OPC guy told me... Perhaps the 'N' in MichelliN suffices.

Been using non N Supersports on my Gen 1 RS for a year. They are great, especially in the wet, though just a bit less grippy than the Cups in the dry.

The Supersport has been developed with Porsche so they should be very good on a Porsche to start with. The N spec tyres are tweaked to perform exactly the way the vehicle manufacture intends. In the case of N tyres it's Porsche * is BMW and so on. Now some times its the compounds that are different and some times the casing is made different ie the way the ply is made up. The manufacture may specify that a tyre is to have x handling characteristic or y braking characteristic. So this is when the tyre is reworked and is homologated (spelling)for a specific application.

So seeing as the SuperSport has been developed with the help of Porsche it's no surprise being the latest generation of high performance tyre it works well with Porsche. That said I would be surprised if any of the premium tyres from all of the leading brand manufactures spat you off the road. It's just that not many drivers are good enough to be able to tell if they have a good tyre fitted or not.
