I've just had the following request from Total 911. If anyone is interested or can offer any help/information please respond directly to Louise at louise.woodhams@imagine-publishing.co.uk or telephone on the number at the bottom of the request.
We're looking for UK owners of either a:
964 C2 and C4

If anyone has got any of these models please could you get them to email me details, pics and where they're located in the country to editorial@total911.co.uk
I look forward to hearing from you and hope you've been enjoying the magazine of late.

Never really liked that mag.
Great photography when it first appeared but the other mags have raised their game since so it doesn't really offer anything special.
Anyone who offers their car for this shoot on the promise of a copy of the pictures taken, should talk to Clinchy on 911uk.com. Took him bloody ages to get them to give him the pics.

The more I think about it the more the mag annoys me!
- Why are the writers and editors not even 911 owners? One of the contributers isn't even old enough to drive and the editor owns VW Golfs!!! Are these people really 911 insight/ownership specialists? Why should I listen to what they have to say about new models or geo set ups?
- Where's the DIY guides to maintainance and simple things? It would be nice to see things like fitting guides for stereos and speakers? How to fit short shifts/do they work? Changing drop links? Tyre reviews for all models? Brake disc/pad reviews? How to clay/clean cars? How to do oil changes/change filters/choose oil? Are lighweight alloys worth it?..etc. If the editors just read the 911 forums they would quickly understand what we're interested in knowing about.
- How about impartial guides to all the suppliers and specialists?
- Why cant we have real life stories about people building their cars?
Most featured builds are nothing more than info-mercials for suppliers, specialists and dealers with pretty much unlimited budgets, resource and access to parts.
- 90% of 911 owners own a 996 or 997, why isn't this reflected in the composition of their articles?
- Not everyone wants ducktails, fuchs and lightweight doorcards!

Young lad, 15 or 16, think his dad owns/owned a C4. I think it's great there's a young lad out there showing a genuine interest in 911s, one day he will no doubt be the next Peter Morgan...
....but...
..as it stands I don't want to hear about a 16 years olds thoughts on fast road geo set ups in a glossy main shelf porsche magazine if they cant drive. I wanna hear this stuff from hugely experienced carrera cup/GT racing type.
I know this all sounds a little harsh
Sorry

Just think it's a little unfair to put a kid down that's not only incredibly enthusiastic about 911s, but apparently not bad at getting that across on paper either.
He could be the most enthusiastic 911 nut ever and be a phenomenal journalist, I encourage young people working hard to get ahead in life...BUT, as Disco says, I don't want advice about track lines/apexes, opposite lock throttle balance, engine maintenance, indeed any aspect of driving from someone who can't drive!
I'd also not want to hear from some 70 year old git who thinks doing 30 in a 50 or 40 in a 60 mph zone isn't dangerous (unless road/weather conditions dictate)!
'Most' of us want to read the musings of someone who is passionate about 911s AND very experienced with them!
Would you take skiing advice from someone, though mad for it, has never whizzed down a mountain on the white stuff? I think not!

Not sure ive read Total but the last time i read one of these mags was GT Purely Malton ... Some chap drove and tested a 993 turbo and reading between the lines not only was it clear that he didn't like the car and couldn't really drive it properly but basically the fella just did not get it all. You would have obtained a more insightful and informative review of the experience of the car if your local postman had written it.- Why are the writers and editors not even 911 owners? Stick with 911uk, PH and the various enthusiasts sites. The content you'll find there is far deeper, complex and satisfying IMO. In fact ive always struggled to understand who these mags are aimed at. Maybe very green folk new to porsche who dont use the net ? or perhaps people who generally only scratch the surface of life and hobbies ? The problem is that that and porsche owners is a bit of an oxymoron surely ?

Last month one of the Total911 'Living the Legend' contributors bemoaned the fact that a Fiesta driver was a little too close to his rear bumper in the rain. The writer was driving a 997 Carrera 4... jeez, the shame of not being able to lose a Fiesta and then publicly announcing it. Ha ha ha!
This month there's a Pirelli tyre review - conducted in Audi s5's. No mention of any Porsche shod cars nor N rating for those that need N rating. There's what appears to be a stock photo of a GT3rs included in the feature. I assume that's there to make the feature relevent?

Maybe it was the 16 year old and the Fiesta was behind the (static) 997 Carrera 4 in the rain-soaked car park! This month there's a Pirelli tyre review - conducted in Audi s5's. Whelp . . . I'm new to P-car ownership and recently picked up Total 911 and I quite liked it. Great photos, large format, and the editor is pleasing to look at too. Maybe I don't know enough to dislike it but I like the mag and I would like to see more women in auto journalism - evo are you listening. There was an interesting article to me pointing out a rare factory slantnose targa among other things. Finally, on page 12 Mag. #88 (the one I bought) there is a great photo of a 997 turbo rear end. And I'll just leave it at that.
