Hi. I`m looking to take the car out on a track for the first time and am a bit confused on whether to use the current ones I have on the car (N rated) which are probably due for a change in 4/5 months or should I wait for a few months when they are due for a change and use those on the track and keep the new road use ones separate.

Does any one just keep the same tyres on for road and track?

any help appreciated.

car i`ll be using will be a 997.1s

You are limited to 5 or 6 laps on normal tyres, they get warm and a bit greasy after that.

R spec tyres feel great on track.

All down to costs but ideal would be 3 sets of wheels and tyres.

Summer road
Track
Winter snow

You pays your money so to speak.

For 1 track day just use what you have now IMO.

Is it just the car's first time on track or yours too? If you're new to track driving then I wouldn't worry much about rubber just yet, but get some instruction and keep sessions to 15 minutes max and do a proper cool down lap.

If it's your first track event you shouldn't worry too much about over heating the tyres, unless you're a natural !

Problem with taking new tyres to a track day is that they will take a lot heat too what with all that movement in the deep blocks.

Around 6mm would be OK though.
