Cayenne V6 diesel or Toureg V8 diesel?

Given that these cars are built on the same platform, I am a little surprised that the Toureg appears to have a much more desirable engine option?
Of course, the Cayenne diesel is a lovely thing and the residuals are awesome, but surely the V8 diesel Toureg has the better power plant than the venerable old diesel 3 litre that crops up all over VAG land.
Why doesn't the Cayenne have the V8 diesel ?
Just pondering as I may well be in the market in the Autumn.
Does anyone here have experience of both?

No experience of the Touareg V8 but regards a hotter diesel Cayenne, Autocar reported that the 309bhp twin-turbo diesel being used in the Audi A6 and A7 has been signed off for installation in the Cayenne and Panamera. I had a call from PC Cambridge the other week asking if we were keen to change our Cayenne and I mentioned that story. The sales chap said they had heard that there may be a minor facelift for the Cayenne in early 2013 and that he had heard rumours of a V8 diesel, which could well be the VW unit. I think others have heard similar rumours - there was a Cayenne Diesel thread knocking about here somewhere.
