Why do coil packs crack?
Discussion
Not as bad as Audi, who have had to recall thousands of cars for bad coil packs.
I had a 2006 A6 2.0 with one that set on fire
so then checked all the other petrol Audis I had and got them booked in (it's a "service campaign" not a recall, so they don't tell you about it unless you ask them!) - this included my dog/tow car (A6 3.0 Avant) which is 10 years old.

31000miles only.
Perhaps they make these cars out of pork too.
Funny if you look at the LUK website, you would think they had found a cure for cancer going by how the talk about their products. In reality, just another thing that will break at great expense.
Don't get me on the cylinder crack issues arrrrhhhhhhhhh.

Just had to have four new packs on my car, are manufacturers incapable making anything last nowadays?
Any symptoms (like misfire in wet weather) or were you just told they needed changing? They are quite exposed to the element due to engine position (how low it is in particular) compared to other cars.
It was noticed while this was being repaired!

I'm glad they don't make parts for this or I wouldn't want to go to work!
