Been surfing the other Porsche forums, on a fairly regular basis and whilst I appreciate that the American's are a lot bigger into tuning than we are and there are some lovely looking cars, I've come across, (in my personal opinion), what are some trully distasteful looking Turbos.
I wouldn't go so far as to risk liabling myself, but whilst most seem to be running 500bhp plus, some of the other mods are well? Very few seem to be running on stock wheels but chrome wheels on a Porsche - come on that's sacrilege?

Perhaps I'm just getting old (I am) and each to their own, but some of them are pure bling/chavtastic smile

I've often thought, and whilst I'm considering going for a sports exhaust and probably wouldn't say no to a remap, that as far as the 996T is concerned, that less is more!

Before anyone accuses me of being some sort of racist I'm not - I love the States and holiday there twice a year!

BTW - apologies to anyone from the States who posts on here - no offence meant!!

I would agree that some of them look terrible (to my eyes at least, but if they're happy, then great), but there are also some really nicely modified cars, and I salute their indivduality, rather than the stuffy 'must not modify a Porsche becasue its sacrilege' attitute that seems to be prevalent in the UK (and partuclarly the Pistonheads Posrche Forum, it must be said smile )

IF PCGB, which had the late Ferry Porsche as Patron, have a 'modified' register, then who are we to argue?

I think this bling/chavtastic thing is a sign of the times, unfortunately; and another thing, does anybody like virtual reality TV programs ?

We have an overpaid footballer of dubious taste who plays for my local football team, Stoke City, and he's had his Aston paintwork done in a chrome finish, and imagine what that looks like.

Anyway, my kids have been saying I've been a grumpy old man for years, so maybe it's true.

Keep smiling smile

Yes the Americans certainly have a taste to their own. You only have to see threads like this to appreciate it: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/996-turbo-gt2/2...

It's all in the eye of the beholder. I happen to like the 997.1 turbo wheels and have them on my Cayman. That said I dont like the look of cars that have been lowered. I would rather see a standard ride hight car. That's not to everybody's taste either though.

Do you reckon this 996 turbo, wrapped in chrome, might also be a footballers car? Apologies to anyone on PH if it was their car but it's absolutely grotesque smile
