Unluckily (for me but not for my mechanic) I have to open my 964´s engine (strange noise) and will then have it rebuilded.(105000 miles it´s a 1993 Carrera 2, coupé with manual gearbox)
Has anyone here a short list of parts that should/need to be changed when the engine is out of the car.

Thanks for your help!!!

Impossible to say until it has been completely stripped and thoroughly inspected.

+ 1.

It is not a short list, so better to make the list as you proceed with the strip, but would advise you strongly to get them ordered asap.

The standard parts we just done on full rebuild excluding liners/pistons was over £5k+vat, and we had to wait over 3.5 months for a couple of the parts from Porsche, completely out of stock anywhere, and they had to be made externally, which is a worry.

What sort of noise?

To split the crankcases etc is possibly not necessary if it still runs.

When I rebuilt my 964RS engine, I used a lot of uprated parts from http://www.ebsracing.com/ which worked out a lot cheaper than buying standard parts in GBP in the UK (even after duty and VAT added).

You will need a full list. Also there are some items I'd replace anyway during a full strip down, just for peace of mind (all bearings/shells, guides, stem seals, retainers, studs, piston rings, oil tubes, etc).
