I called OPC today to get a price for a 6 year minor service for my Cayman S, given that the website says prices are under review.

I was expecting to be quoted an increase on the previous prices of £480 plus £130 for brake fluid and was prepared to do some negotiation, instead I was quoted £340 plus VAT for service (£408) and £95 inc VAT for BF, for a total of £503

Being Northern Irish and therefore both cheeky and mean, I still asked if they could do a bit better and was told £475.

Given the age of the car I was wavering about using an independent, but I gave them the business, on the grounds that another OPC stamp and invoice will look better if I decide to sell in the next 2 years.

This is deffo interesting info as i was quoted on friday the full £480 for the minor service and £150 for the brake fluid on my 5 year old cayman at the OPC Sheffield.

When do these reduced prices come into effect? Today onwards?

Being a PCGB member would give you 10% off parts and labour, so your membership cost would be covered straight away. I also provide my own oil to OPC's (same approved oil but purchased from Costco), and that reduces the servicing cost by another £100.

What is the difference in cost then between buying it from costco and what the OPC's are charging?

Based on the post you quoted it would be £100.

Ok I stand corrected, what is the difference in cost of the oil from costco and OPC's? or are you saying that OPC's want a hundred and something pounds just for the oil?

From the post I assumed that it was £100 difference. So if Costco was £50 opc was £150. For just the oil. Which would mean you save 100 if you supply yourself. And the labour the opc charge will of course remain unchanged. I may be misinterpreting it but that's how I saw it. So both you save 100 and the difference in oil charge is also a 100.

If I remember correctly, an OPC charge about £160 for Mobil 1 and Costco sell it from about £60.

Costco are £30 for 5L, you'll need 2 of those. Think the OPC is somewhere around £125 + VAT for the oil.

Can't remember exactly but my OPC charged around a £100 for oil, my drive to costco would negate the difference.lol

So just to confirm, is it £100 cheaper providing your own oil then? biggrin

I can't remember the exact saving. It was definitely more than £99 and certainly less than £101.

Dont bother with the membership . . . .

1 - its crap
2 - if you ask for 10%, they happily give it, PCGB or not
3 - "porsche club member" also works
