I'm currently wondering on whether this combination would work......

This Hamann front end (bumper/wings/lights)

with 996gt3.2 side skirts, normal rear bumper

and this RUF ducktail.....

Awesome?
Super Gash?

A complete and utter waster of money. It will probably be heavier and be ruined from an aero point of view.

Use the money to get a better car.

Or perhaps I am wrong and it would in fact be awesome. scratchchin

Updated the Hamann pic so that it refers to the pic rather than the web page.....

Some background on my thinking......

I don't think I could go back to the standard body style, as I really like the aerokit cup 2 front bumper - soo much nicer than the standard bumper.

I also think that the aerokit cup 2 rear spoiler negatively influences other road users - I feel that big wings are seen as show-y or race-y by those around the car and it is a bit too showy for me - but still better than the standard rear deck. I also think the cars handling in crosswinds is negatively affected by the spoiler and its pylons.

I really like the looks of the 997 sportclassic (wheels aside), and since I'm short a few quid on the asking price of one of those, a RUF style ducktail seems like a good compromise to me, especially given my comment above about big wings.

I prefer the body shape of the 996 over the 997 - I don't mind the lights either. However - I think the lights were a massive design cock-up, and a 997 style light arrangement will only make the car look better.

A better car? Hmm I'd love a 996.2 gt3 or a 993C2S but I couldn't pile the miles on one of them - it wouldn't be right, and I definitely wouldn't want to mess with a GT3 or a late 993C2S. I'm also open to GTx Tax at OPC with GT cars. I'm not interested in 4wd at all. So what's better?

Whats your total budget including the donor car, and all of the parts and fitting, painting etc?

i.e; the total cost.

For me, money comes in chunks due to the way I work, so savings aren't that great and any car purchase would be via finance. Hence I tend to buy a car and modify it in stages.

I think I know what I'll really do though.....time for an NSX.
