Hi guys, just introducing myself here and ask a couple of minor questions that I can't readily find the answers for.

I bought this coupe from the OPC in Reading a few weeks ago (full OPC service history, two years warranty) after what was the best test drive of my life (from one of the guys at the Silverstone experience centre).

2006 Gen 1 with just less than 30K on the clock, one previous owner. Obviously I'm delighted with it and it's a nice counterpart to my E350 CDI Estate.

Ok, a minor question here. I've noticed that I'm getting a lot of air locks when fuelling it no matter how I angle the nozzle. I'm finding that the best way to fuel is to gently hold the trigger and let it dribble in until it refuses to take any more (at which point I find the tank is only 3/4 full).

Is this something that's known, or do I need to either change my technique or take it back to the OPC to get a fault rectified?

I have to say that this is the best car I've ever driven, even more so than a Gallardo that I had a driving experience day with a while ago.

Aha. I see in some places that people are recommending twisting the nozzle through 90 degrees. I'm sure I've tried this, but I'll see how it goes.

Funny how searching again sometimes works differently after you've just posted something...

I find rotating the nozzle 180 degrees, so it's upside down is the only way it works for me.

I agree. I've had it for three weeks now and it still looks pretty clean. The alloys have bucketfuls of brake dust smeared all over them though. Pretty soon, they'll be fully graphite grey...

Well, just filled her up and twisting the nozzle by 90 degrees did the trick perfectly, only had the one hic-hup and it's full to the brim...

... before I took the opportunity to kill a few carbons. Rude not to really...

I have a small rattle in the passenger side facia somewhere. I've managed to cure it with liberal dabs of Black Sabbath.

What's the spec?

Just let it breath a bit before you stick it in;)

Fairly basic spec, but if I want my toys, I'll take the Mercedes out...

Manual (no other way really)
PASM
SatNav (usually good at telling me which exit to take just after I've taken it already)
iPod interface (laughably bad)

And that's pretty much it.

I have a list of numbers for the equipment on the vehicle identification sheet in the manual, but I have no idea what they mean as yet.

EDIT:

431 = leather steering wheel
567 = driver's air bag
610 = DVD Nav pack for Europe
635 = Park Assist
666 = Without laquer and chrome protection (not the number of the beast then)
670 = PCM2 Navigation
680 = Bose sound package
936 = seat cover rear leather
981 = All leather lining
983 = Leather seats front and rear
991 = Seering wheel airbag cover leather
C16 UK LUX spec: tinted windows, metallic paint, and a few other goodies.
X54 Oval Chrome Exhaust Pipes

So, SatNav, Bose, Leather pretty much sums it up...

I don't think C16 has given me tinted windows (I just have the grey shaded sun shade on the front screen), and I don't know if "Seal Grey" is a C16 colour.

Exhaust pipes don't look very chrome anymore, there's a few dead carbons sitting on them...

My Merc is slushronic and I didn't like the idea of the rocker switches on the auto C4S on offer... If it was paddle shift with PDK, I might have been tempted, but I'm really enjoying the manual shift.
