Hi Guys, my C S would not start last week so jumped it and took it to the garage where they checked the battery, they said it was just flat so took it home charged it up fully used it Saturday/Sunday went out to it last night and dead again, anyone else had a similar problem with your one? If the battery is fine then it could be the charging system but there are no warning lights on but it just seems like something is draining it, any ideas gratefully received.

Had the same thing with my Boxster last year. The original Porsche battery, 4 years old at the time, would charge but after not using the car for a couple of days would go flat again. A visit to Euro Carparts for a Bosch battery solved the problem for around £80.

..and don't bother with the Porsche ones, they are 3 times the price and half as good..! unless you need to keep the warranty up.

Ok thanks guys, it is under warranty but not a Porsche one, I suppose the only consideration is who I renew the warranty with when it runs out, if it were Porsche then would need a battery from them. Out of interest who makes the Porsche batteries?

"BOSCH" is what happens when you get the bill for your new battery!!!

The battery can be tested. I had a slow cranking start with my 996 Turbo -- Interstate battery -- and I took the car in and the tech tested the battery in the AM and found it ok, but he waited and tested it again later in the day and found it low on power and in need of replacement. I bought the car used so I do not know how long the battery was in the car before I ended up with the car and the battery went belly up.

With my 02 Boxster I managed to get around 6 years from its OE battery (Moll). When this battery exhibited severe loss of power (I left something in the car plugged in for a week while I was away) I replaced it with another Moll battery though the replacement battery was a bit bigger in size (but still fit just fine in the battery box though I had to move the battery holddown out one hole). The battery was bigger and offered more AHs and CCAs. The reason for the bigger battery is Porsche upped the Boxster's battery spec and I elected to go with what Porsche recommended regarding battery size/capacity/performance.

Anyhow the car recently exhibited weird starting symptoms: slow cranking, windows dropping, raising, dropping, raising over and over again in rapid succession. Managed to get the engine started and drove to teh dealer for a new battery. Since I had no tools with me I had the dealer install the battery. The car refused to start at the dealer so I timed that about right.

Anyhow, this time the dealer installed installed an Interstate battery (same capacity/size at the just failed Moll battery) which is probably not a brand available in your area.

Oh, the 2nd Moll battery lasted around 4 years.

Sincerely,

Rockster.
