Hi
Our Porsche boxster was parked by the village pond last week when the pond flooded. The first we knew of it was the car alarm went off at six am. The water wasn't very deep but as it was parked on a slight incline the front was a bit higher than the back.
We managed to tow it out and park it. We couldn't stop the alarm going off and then the horn kept sounding for another twenty minutes. After that the car died.
Inside the car is fine, nothing got wet. We had hoped that it would just dry out and have left it a week now but no luck. The water was only about half way up the rear tyre.
Before we try and get it towed off to a garage has anyone had a similar experience and if so what was the damage/cost etc.
Thanks
Siobhan

Mrs James-T's Boxster had similar alarm going off issues and turned out to be blocked drain tubes causing water to fill up the area under the seats which is where all the electronic control units are located. So, feel under the seats for dampness to see if water has got in there somehow and if it is then it's a trip to the dealers to have the interior stripped out, dried and new control units fitted. Consider asking your insurance company if it's covered as it cost me a fair chunk of money to fix and a lesson learned!

Thanks for your reply. What you've suggested makes sense and we hadn't thought of that.
Sounds like it's going to be costly. Our own fault. We moved it the previous week when there was a flood warning and the pond was fine. No flood warning last week when it flooded but there was heavy rain so we should have been more cautious. Pond hasn't flooded since 2001 so we got complacent.
Our banger was parked in front of the boxster and was on slightly higher ground so was fine. Typical that we parked them the wrong way round!

Hi all,
Thanks again for your help. The Boxster has just been taken away to a garage so fingers crossed they can save it because my husband loves that car.
The insurance does cover it apart from the excess which combined with his phone (which wasn't insured) will come to about 800 or so. We've learned our lesson about watching the weather.
I think Captain James T is correct because when they hoisted it up there was a lot of water under the passenger seat which was not visible before.
Hopefully it will be saved.
