Tyres again! 996 C2 options & prices?
Discussion
Right, its time I need to change my rears...
Having read the threads on tyre selection, I think I'm going to try a pair of Falken FK-452, but is it worth spending a bit more and getting P Zero Rosso, which then begs the question, is it worth going back to Pilot Sports 2's that they've got on now?
A quick look on the net, and the prices were as follows:
255/40/ZR17 (94Y)
FK-452.................£121 each (delivered)
P Zero Rosso.........£151 each
Pilot Sport2 (N3)....£188 each
It'll only ever be used on the road by me, and a max of 3000 miles per year.
Your thoughts please??

at 3000 miles pa on the road - I should be too bothered about what you put on it as its hardly warmed up by the time you switch the engine off and tuck it back up in its nice warm museum!
Seriously - it doesnt matter.

Depends how it's driven for that 3000mls pa though doesn't it. Mine only does 3000-3500mls pa, put PS2s all round on mine, not cheap but I want to know there's decent rubber between me & the road when I use it thanks Seriously - it doesnt matter.

I run the same size tyres on mine. have been very very impressed with Mich PS2's on mine. I only do 5,000 or so a year, but like to know I have the best when it comes to staying on the grey stuff.
I get around 16,000 on my rears and 24K on the fronts, so very good longevity and money well spent, I would say. So, if it were me I'd go for the Michelins without a questions, especially as you'll have matching ones to the front.

Also, if it's only being used 3k miles per year, his tyre cost is going to be 1/4 of that of someone who does 12k miles per year, therefore he has got 4x the budget to spend on decent rubber.
