Heavier, slower, less nimble, more understeer, less reliable due to extra diffs, but in the real world you would be hard pressed to detect any difference and some would say they are easier to drive in poor conditions...

Spot on, i had one for four years. Very good in the snow however. Buy the C2 if you can find a good one.

I drove one back-to-back with my C2 and found it to feel a bit heavier but nothing dramatic. The communication just wasn't the same. As a daily it wouldn't matter but if you really want the subtleties to come through, I would suggest the C2 is a better choice.

I also drove a C4 Celebration widebody back to back with mine and found it to be considerably heavier and slower. The owner of the Celebration agreed completely (although the widebody is stunning to look at).

Now to me, that looks a great piece of kit.

Damn, if this had been up for sale 2 months ago I would have been seriously interested.

Well worth a look imo. Just check the VIN, the later the model the better. M model onwards would be my choice. Do not go off the reg.

C4, never owned one, C2 I have ....... if I was having another 964 then a C4 would possibly a better bet if the cars going to be used in any weather.

Interesting that it's got German plates but a British reg number, I wonder why? Lovely looking car and very professional photos that show it off very well.

Yes but that's mostly because I was luck enough to find one and there were plenty about five years ago because 964s weren't very popular back then. However, I've been in a number of C4s and found them to be a very good drive on the road. As a toy for road trips I would say that a C4 is as good as a C2 and a well looked after C4 would be better than a poorly looked after C2. I've also been in a couple of C4s on track. That's where you see their stubborn nature of not wanting to let go and will default to understeer to keep you safe....even if that means you drift off the edge of the track! Admittedly, neither car had as good a suspension set up or sticky tyres like mine.

It's the 'D' rather than 'GB' on the plate I was wondering about mate?

Can the 4wd system be removed or is that way to much hassle?

I can see where you're coming from because the red C4 looks a lovely car to start from. However, the same question has been raised many times on Rennlist and the concensus of opinion is that the cost/difficulty is not worth it. The same applies to trying to turn a C2 tiptronic into a manual. Sorting out a tatty C2 would be easier and cheaper.

Hi. Reecently bought a C4 after a long search for a nice 964. I love the way it drives but can feel a little understeer when pushing hard, although a good suspension set up and firmer ARB do help the situation.

If it's for the track and have been told the C2 has better feedback but for everyday or a weekend number that won't be given too much grief, I'm more than happy with the C4.

Pressed ali Plates are a VDUB thing which can be bought from shows, ebay, etc for about 20 quid and you can specify GB or D when ordering.........I have a set redface/

Don't discount it because of this, just get it checked out. I bought my car at 95k miles and had a leak down test performed before purchasing, the results were close to that you would expect of a new engine. This car might do another 40k miles (possibly more) before needing a rebuild which could equate to 10 years of ownership if it is just a weekend toy. There seems to be some PH rule that states that all 964's should have had an engine rebuild after 70k miles, it is nonsense. Also, as has been stated on this forum before, all rebuilds are not equal, a rebuilt engine does not necessarily mean that you won't have trouble and big bills on the horizon.
