Hi,

Shamelessly cross-posted from TIPEC, but I'm quite anxious to know the answer, so I wondered if anyone on PH could help...

I know there were a couple of different damper options for the 'basic' 2-litre 924 over its life, but do they all use the same basic fittings and dimensions or do you need to know the precise spec of the car to find a replacement insert that will fit?

All the shops I've seen list a single universal damper for all n/a 2-litre 924s (which fits the Turbo as well, I believe), which is what I'd expect. But a friend of mine who works for a damper manufacturer swears blind they've had problems with some people ordering them and then finding out they don't fit, so I wondered if they had different fitments for different model years or different options perhaps?

...And if they do vary is there any way I can work out conclusively which ones are fitted to my car without having to dismantle the struts?

It may well be the stories stem from people trying to fit later 944 shocks or something, but I'd be keen to hear from anyone who can clarify one way or the other.

Chris

No - apparently some cars had Boge struts, and would have used different dampers.

...And these are actually a different fit rather than just different valving inside the damper?
