a colleague wants my 1998 996,.
its silver with black leather and in very very good cond, has gt3 alloys, sunroof and only 49500 miles with a good history.
i know these are dropping all the time but what do you guys think it would achieve in a private sale on the ph classifieds
all opinions gratefully received, also interior is above average condition and all black with a small amount of aluminium. also got a sports exhaust fitted only 10 mnths ago.

10k max but to be honest I personally would be happier buying one with 89k on rather than 49k.

My take on the IMS issue is that there is more chance of an issue at the sort of mileage yours is on rather than a high miler. I know bore wear and so on may be more prevalent on a higher milage car but this is just my opinion.

I have just sold one and in the market for another.

I think it all depends on the history and condition.
Last year I bought a car with not much more miles, but it had just had an engine build done by Hartech.
I would think the car is worth anything from £11-12000.

Most average condition early 996's seem to be for sale for 11-12k, rough examples sub 10k and exceptional 13-14.5K.
