Just noticed over the last few months that my front tyres are wearing significantly on the inside. Asked the service guy in Porsche and he said thats normal due to the camber set up. Found this a little unusual?
Is this the case or is the alignment out? Car running straight as a dye & alignment done just over a year ago.

I've never noticed either particularly uneven or rapid wear on the front.
Rears - a different story.
Car is set up by Chris at CG with road based driving in mind, so not far at all, from the factory set up.

I can get arround 20k form the fronts but only 6-7k on the rears. Never had any front wear problems. Sounds like you need your Geo setting up. Could even be worn TCA bushes

Alignment is out. With my Turbo or Boxster I can get 40K miles per set of front tires and possibly more but by 40K miles the front tires are hard and slick and noisy. So when I replace the rear tires (on average at around 20K or thereabouts) the 2nd time I replace the fronts.

My Turbo is making a bit of noise which I believed to be bearing related. But a tech id'd the cause of the noise as alignment, the front end is out of alignment probably toe. (I bumped a low curb/sidewalk with the front tires which I avoid like the plague but my excuse was it was late and I was tired and the parking was unfamiliar to me.)

You need to get the car properly aligned -- and get the before and after print out! -- and probably replace the front tires, at least.

My Turbo is on the shop today for among other things an alignment. Even though the tire wear is not that bad, I got tired of the noise and because I'm heading out on a 4K mile road trip soon and I want a quiet car I elected to get the alignment done... I didn't want to wait to the front tires to require replacement.

Good as time as any to point out that with a proper alignment the rear tires should last 20K miles (unless you're a real animal on the street or track the car) and the fronts twice that. I have found this to be the case with both of my cars. I have also found out, unfortunately the hard way, the Turbo can go through rear tires in around 8K miles if the alignment is shoddy.

Before you have the car aligned, empty it of junk (weight). Be sure the spare tire and tool kit/etc is present and installed properly. Fill up the gas tank.

Some alignment techs put ballast (weight) on the driver's side of the car, others do not do this. My cars have been aligned both ways and I can't tell the difference by feel or tire life or anything else. The factory manual section on alignment doesn't call for any weight/ballast.

Sincerely,

Rockster.
