As said in the other thread - not worth £100k more is it?

Did that chase car have his sunroof open wink (I know the 'mericans can get them, whether or not they want them?).

Well at 9.31 he was lucky not to smash in the back of it.

Then after the off, does 140mph before checking the car out !!!

Great Vid, Interesting to see how the 4.0 pulls away on the straights but in the scheme of things on the track driver skill and balls keeps the 3.8 right up with him.

Great driving? So focused n the car in front that he followed it off circuit and came close to rear ending him? Not to mention going 2 abreast through the chicane. Nice trackday!

+1
OTR price was was not much different, between 3.8 and 4.0?

All things being equal and leaving normally aspirated v turbo power delivery arguments aside would a stock 08 997 GT2 smoke both of them? At £80k for a nice example GT2 looks incredibly good value against these RS models. Video shows its all down to the driver. A quick driver in a 3.8 would leave an average driver in a 4.0

Agreed, but from the Dick Lovett thread, the 4.0's are now 100k more to get into and it was being discussed if it was worth the upgrade or not.

Obviously yes, but only as an investment?

It would be pretty much down to drivers & tyres... be a good race tho!

4.0 is a great investment. Right up until the 991 GT3 spec is leaked next year...

Not totally sure about that? Reading about Porsches new line up/product rollout over on 911UK (courtesy of Automobilemag) and the end of the piece says the GT3 will have a PDK box.

Doesn't say there will be no manual option, but that may shake things up some?

I suspect while the GT3s will obviously depreciate there will always be a Mezger premium. Much the same the last of the air cooled seemed to (and still do) attract.

The 991 GT3 is not a direct replacement for the 997 GT3 if the engine will be a tuned Carerra lump and the steering electric.

Yes it will leave the beards with the old models to choose from.

Everyone else will embrace the change which will be as successful as the 458 Paradigm.

But let's not get hung up on gearboxes there's more important things in life... wink

Not sure we are on the same page?

Merely saying, if it is PDK only, the 4.0 may/will be the last/great Mezger/manual and possibly retain its current inflated value?

yes my thoughts exactly. He really didn't need to drive off the track at turn 12 wasn't looking further than the car in front when he bowed the crest an easy mistake to make.

Exactly, the 991 GT3 will be something else, not enough 'beards' when compared to the 'noveau letter of intent' lot. It will hammer the current GT3 RS line and all associated 'premiums' will evaporate I can assure you.

GT3 needs PDK to keep up with today's fast cars, other wise it will be slower than a standard 991 PDK
