Have tried searching but there doesn't appear to be anything on this particular question...

I've had my GTS 4 for a few weeks now, and have found that if I leave my ipod connected in the car (which is what I bought it for) then the ipod's battery is drained in a day or two.

Has anyone else found that in their cars with the same set up? I didn't have the same problem when I used a different ipod in my 997.1 with a Dension 500, as the Dension charged the ipod when I was driving.

It seems that the official Porsche ipod connector in the 997.2 just takes a music feed but doesn't charge the ipod? Can anyone confirm this, as I just want to check whether it's definitely true or whether I've actually bought a dud ipod which doesn't charge very well.

Thanks v much everyone...

Mine charges both iPod and iPhone. But if your iPod is old (FireWire charging) it won't.

Nope - it's a brand new iPod so it must be a dud. Cheers.

I think that it only charges when the car is switched on though. Are you only doing occasional short journeys?

You need a Y-shaped cable and to plug one end into the iPod/iPhone and the two car ends into the USB and the iPod sockets. Then it will control, play and charge the device. If this makes no sense then you have the wrong cable.

This makes perfect sense! I will connect the USB connection. Was told by the dealer that it was for non ipod type devices.

Thank you v much for the help
