"This Porsche 911 is very special. It's the 964RS Lightweight, 1 of only 16 UK supplied cars. 2800 (two thousand eight hundred) miles with the same owners since new (part of a private collection)"

I'm much liking this RS. Surely this has to be the lowest-mileage 964 RS today? It looks absolutely brand new, inside and out! My only reservation with this particular car is, putting any miles on it now would sacrifice it's value. Would it fit in my living room... Mmmmmm

A bit of poo came out when I saw the price.
Seems the car can never to be used again.

Fantastic!

I'd have thought a couple thousand miles a year would be ok?

One for Dave, maybe? wink

It is a joy and a tragedy in equal measure.

The perfect condition is a joy, but these are cars that are built for dynamic pleasure. It will never be used for what it was designed for.

This vehicle was advertised by another dealer about 1 year ago. IIRC the asking price was £120k, needless to say it didn't sell.

At this price point, it is a VERY limited market, and collectors of such vehicles can be quite picky about details such as colour. Midnight Blue does not generally attract the interest of some of the more vibrant 64RS colours.....

A collector does not care about colour when there are only 16 cars.
They care about the detail and originality.

The issue is price.

Quite annoyed I did not buy one a few years back at 37k .....

Bit like the 996rs stuck at 120k

Very very limited market.

I like the colour.

I wonder what a full Porsche service history entails on a car with only 2800 miles.... scratchchin

Also, the original tyres must have been in awful condition if they lost the 'S' & 'E'.

I think its stunning & Midnight Blue is a stunning colour on any rare porsche.

I don't understand why you can't drive it. If you can afford to buy it you can afford to drive it.

To buy it and not drive it would be like having a hot girlfriend and not fking her incase her next boyfriend didn't value her as much.

I never really considered colour. I personally think it looks great in midnight, but do agree the 'louder' colours are more suited (and possibly more desirable?) to the RS models

I'm not sure this car will ever get driven tbh. Because of the mileage, condition, and asking price, it's aimed at being stored away, as an investment. If you wanted to drive it, you'd buy a 40k miler for £££k's less surely.

It's a great example, and whether it's worth £130k (today!) is always going to be debatable. But, prices are only going to go one way on these.

Investment potential, absolutely!

hehe Very true though.

When you get to much higher values some cars get more usable because the cost to repair/resurrect is less significant to the value. For example, a friend was racing and noticed a Ferrari of some kind that had a value of £1.x million and got chatting to someone in the team about the risk associated with racing it - he was told that they could pretty much rebuild the whole car for £150k or so, and it'd still be valued at £1.x million (due to the identity, history & provenance), so the risk wasn't what it seemed.

Was that a rhd car? Seems very cheap even if 'a few years back' was as long ago as 1998....

If the car were maritime it might be worth £90k, but not in a dull colour IMHO.

Would it be wrong to win the euromillions and buy that car to use as a daily, with just a run through the local eastern european staffed hand car wash every other saturday morning on the way to tesco?

no more wrong, imo, than buying it new and keeping it like that

but each to their own

Yes IMHO, it would be sacrilege. Buy a £70k example to use as a daily.

I hope you had your poo bag strapped on. It must be terrible having that problem.

Buy the lovely low miler and park it in the garage. Buy a second 964 in same colour. High miler, needing an engine rebuild. Do a top notch motor rebuild, RS flywheel and clutch and 993 uprgrades. Enjoy driving a rep. of your real RS like no-one else can. Turning up occasionally at events with the real one will help. Then driving ten-tenths at the next event with the rep. will really make an impression.

120k for the queen, 12k for the C2 10K for the motor, 10K for the RS upgrade. Within 5 years the (still under 10k miles) real RS is worth 150K, while the well used rep. is still worth 22k. If you sell them as a boxed set, they will probably fetch 190K. Think big.-)
