I bought my Cayman S a couple of years back, love it, but i'm aware the new one is due out in 2013 and it looks radically different....

Has anyone looked into how much the old shape boxsters value dipped when the new one came out recently? Same goes for the older 911 when the new one arrived?

I paid over the odds for a top spec Cayman, ultra low miles, leather dash, most options etc... Do i sell this summer to avoid the hit next year of the new model, or ride it out?

Perhaps now is the time to sell and get a 4 year Carrera S...

Do you like your car?

If the answer is yes, keep it and don't worry about depreciation - it happens, even with a Porsche.

If you are bored with it, sell it and buy the next one, but bear in mind that will also depreciate and be worth less than you paid for it.

Alternatively buy a really cheap st-box and then you don't have to worry wink

Thanks for the input HOHOHO,

Obviously i love my car, and obviously all cars depreciate, but by buying and selling at the right time you can reduce the impact of depreciation, obviously.

I was hoping someone may have looked at the numbers, or someone in the trade could comment on how the values of old boxsters have been impacted

Buying a 4 year old Carrera won't solve the problem, frying pan and fire!

Sounds like you just need justification to trade in for a Carrera, just do it if you want to and can afford to!

You may find they're affecting the values, but unlikely they effect them.

Do bears st in the woods?

Without a crystal ball you can only guess, but I imagine that all these models depreciate like a brick anyway, and I guess you knew that when you bought it so who knows when the best time to jump is. But one would have thought that Caymen to 997 is frying pan to fire as already said.

Just buy the car you want and drive the thing, don't worry about the mileage, colour, value just enjoy it for what it is.

a new 60k Cayman is not going to affect a 2nd hand 25k Caymans value but might on a 55k 6 month old one.

This.

Though a 6month old Cayman isn't worth 55k already, let alone when the new one comes out!

Supply of the old model will increase, which will impact the whole used market. Arguably the 3 year-old models will be more vulnerable as these are the ones most likely to be traded in for the new one.

But it starts at the st end and gets a little stter, rather than starting high and becoming st!

the good thing for cayman values is there are no new cars being built now until next year.it is also quiet a low volume car(less cars than say a 997 turbo).so older car prices will remain firm.last june 2011 i struggled to sell my low mileage 58 plate car for £28k yet still achieved £26k trade in at xmas.

Sorry, 1 minute has past and it's now only worth £44.37

Fortunately my 997 is worth a fortune as it's one of the rare ones with an original engine wink
