Hi all, I'm in need of some rear tyres for the 996 C4S. Standard are 295/30/18. I can get some part worn of my mate which are 285/30/18 N4.

Will they work? Any problems?

Cheers.

Think it could as the rolling radius is different & the 4 wheel system might not like it. Part worn tyre's ....Mmmmm not on a high performance car.

When I say part worn, they must be about a month old! Still got 6-7mm on. Cheers for advice

Rolling radius is the same, 30/18. I think they'd be OK, but I'm sure some people more experienced in this field will chime in soon.

Wouldn't a 285/30/18 have a smaller radius than a 295/30/18?

The aspect ratio (30 in this case) denotes the sidewall height as a percentage of the width (285 or 295). Maybe not enough of a difference to cause a problem.

The difference should be about 3mm, but tyres vary across brands and types.

So with new tread at 8mm and worn tyres down to 2mm (i.e. 6mm variation) the 3mm difference I will experience from putting these on won't make any difference?
