997.1 C2S Tyre recommendations
Discussion
Afternoon all
I think I may need some tyres before a European trip I am taking in June (Petrolhead Nirvana Alpine tour) and I was wondering what tyres you guys would recommend.
I know Michelin are the 'official' choice but has anyone tried any others?
I'm looking for a good all round tyre I can use for winter driving as well as summer.
Thanks in advance
P.S I currently have 19 in wheels with the following tyre sizes
Front - 235/35/R19
Rear - 295/30/R19

All summer performance tyres perform poorly/marginally in winter. I'm looking for a good all round tyre I can use for winter driving as well as summer.
For touring, all the current N-rated tyres are a good option for you. You can't go wrong with N-rated Bridgestone/Goodyear/Michelin.
In winter, proper winter tyres like Nokians are available as an N-rated tyre for the 911.

I hate conti 3
Ps2 is a much better tyre if you want n spec.
I would still have super sports if you already have a warranty, they cannot refuse a warranty claim.
You just cannot get a new warranty.
hate is a strong word, no? I found the Conti3s to be on par with the now dated PS2s.Ps2 is a much better tyre if you want n spec.

Conti 3 is also dated v conti 5p
not a fan of conti at all,
Also most tyre tests are done at the conti proving ground, and guess what, they win lol.
Ps2 is far better summer tyre than conti 3.
But super sport is in another league to both of them,
Not tried the newer conti 5p and I don't trust reviews.

I will be needing new rubber on my '7S-2 later in the year and was wondering if it's worth going for PSS instead of PS2 this time. Are you able to tell me exactly how & where the PSS improves on the PS2 on the 997? Have you driven this combo yourself or is your opinion based on what you've heard from others?Hope you can help.
Edit: Agree with your thoughts on the Contis. 5p is a reasonable tyre but SC3 is old tech now - on a par with P Zero Rosso

I have ran all the tyres bar conti 5.
I run Ps2 on one car and PSS on another right now.
PSS just has more grip, better turn in, and wet performance is a massive improvement, ps2 not great in the wet IMO.
PSS just is better in every aspect , they don't even wear that fast,
They are made of magic beans.
Def market leading dry non r spec tyre.

I had the Bridgestone RE050's all round and just changing the fronts to Mitchelin PS2's has made an amazing difference to the ride (much better) and grip (more of it)!
Now about to change the rears *gulp* (305/30/19) to Michelin PS2's, even thought the Bridgestones aren't worn out, as they're very hard riding and I want to match the front end grip ....
MM.

Thanks for all your replies and suggestions chaps, I have decided to go for the Super Sports when I need them replaced.
As a side note, Blackcircles are offering the following:
Michelin Pilot Super Sport
235/35 R19 Y (91) XL = £233.33
295/30 R19 Y (100) XL = £362.17
Michelin Pilot Sport 2
235/35 R19 Y (87) N2 = £235.04
295/30 R19 Y (100) N2 = £362.20
So...what does N2 with the little Porsche logo mean? Official recommendation?
